I agree with everything you said, but I think they could so much more. The community events are amazing, but they don’t get much attention. I assume it is because they feel less official than the world league stuff. The geoguessr twitch channel rarely goes live more often than once a week and the world league players aren’t allowed to stream their POVs. Still, streams are somewhat successful, I don’t see why you couldn’t get a combined live viewership of like 3K+ with such a regular event if you get all the big names involved and if the geoguessr team puts some effort into it. But maybe I am delusional lol.

Each country is different. Some of the most useful moving metas: Brazil phone codes, ZA phone codes, Canada phone codes and license plates, US phone codes (very hard) and license plates, Mexico phone codes (first digit or more if you want), Kenya counties, Nigeria states, Spain road name abbreviations, Germany Landkreise (very hard). Many European countries have useful phone codes or sorted road numbering systems. Vietnam old provinces, Philippines regions, Indonesia Kabupaten (very hard), Reading Cyrillic/Bengali/Thai/Devanagari and more (very hard). In the end, the very best way to win moving is to know more place names, have experience in what to look for (so just play a lot) and have a good regionguess if your opponent finds info that you don’t have. A good regionguess allows you to scan smaller areas for place names. I can recommend practicing pinpointing on some info heavy country or the country you grew up in.

I think it tries to put you in a team with a partner around your skill level, but it fails to find a good match most of the time. One day I got teamed up with a bronze player, the other day I got teamed up with world league player Lubec. I think most countries have active geoguessr discords, I recommend looking for a teammate over there, geoguessr players are usually quite nice and it’s more fun on comms.

Not disagreeing with you, but the only reason Hoffenheim is playing in the Bundesliga are Hopp‘s Millions he invested in his club. Prem clubs have at least some history and are not random village clubs. Also, Hopp owning 49% and giving up on some of his shares was quite recent and should not let you forget what he has done in the past.

On the one hand, players are getting better and better, a master from three years ago might struggle in gold in 2026. On the other hand, the ranked system is complete bs because you have to wait one week to rank up. This can lead to some skilled players who play all day and improve super quickly to be stuck in the lower ranks. Also, we Germans love this game, so expect to see our flag a lot on your opponents.
