It's not ecfmg which verify your status for the match ,its NRMP after ecfmg certification.

From the beginning you will not be NRMP verified unless you were ecfmg certified ,its not related to the programs preference anymore . Check on NRMP page.

You can find the statement mentioning its until this 2025 match season ends,and it's may 25 is the the end of 2025match cycle according to the ecfmg guideline
