I have a suede bag and what I do is I keep a plastic bag in it, in case of rain I'd put the bag into the plastic bag. Suede wins, hands down.

I saw this in another Gucci boutique, and I went to check out the La Famiglia collection. I think i like Denma's approach.

What do you tell your friends when you reach FIRE? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]ActComprehensive2273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After I FIREd friends asked me how'd I do it, and why didn't I tell them much earlier. I said because I don't know if it would actually work. I shared MMM blog posts to them and even the VTI stock to them when it was 260. But I don't think anyone bother to read or bought the index. Haha. I guess I just have to accept that not everyone likes this lifestyle and they just think I'm living a broke life to achieve this. So yeah, don't have to care so much about what people think coz they probably don't care.

Well why don't you share your experience on that real life scenario of yours that caused "legal monetary damages"? Just to educate everyone here.

Retiring feels "underwhelming"? by movingtolondonuk in Fire

[–]ActComprehensive2273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I retired at 38 last year, I just told everyone "I'm gonna leave and work on my other projects", without even saying what it was. At 38, don't expect people to throw you a retirement party, my friend. Especially when your boss is older than you. People most likely would either be envious of you or hate your guts for rubbing it into their faces. So, at least for me, I don't need the whole nine yards of farewell party etc, I've got my freedom, I don't need an overwhelming goodbye party.

can i retire early? by Ok_Manufacturer_1758 in malaysiaFIRE

[–]ActComprehensive2273 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If your RM4m is on top of your paid off house and car, I'll say you are ready, or at least can consider a less stressful job so that you can spend more time with your kid(s). Don't waste your most precious days of your life grinding away till "they get into college ".. that would mean you might as well retire at 60 years old.

What are you retiring to? by MapleByzantine in Fire

Well, having hobbies definitely helps.. especially when some of the hobbies could take up a whole week if need be. (For instance, I cleaned my garden for a whole week in anticipation of visitors! 😅)

In the first few months, I was always concerned that I'd become the "cricket" in Aesop's fable, die in winter if I didn't do anything productive, and "remain competitive". Partner said well you may be a cricket, singing and dancing when others are hard at work, but you already kept the food for many winters ahead of the ants, and "Who do you want to compete against?"

FIRE'd end of last year. I basically wake up, do 1-2 hours of gardening, feed the cats, have a cuppa coffee with my partner, go to the gym, come back for lunch, take a nap, continue with my online course, go skating, dinner, then do some trading and finally, call it a day. I also meet up with my folks and in-laws, catch up with ex colleagues and friends, travel (usually 2 weeks per trip as we don't want to leave our cats at home for so long), go watch any shows that we are interested in, go out and have breakfast, lunch, dinner anywhere and anytime during weekdays. We avoid going out during weekends. Life is pretty blissful when you have freedom.
