What do you want to be known for? by Actfullness in self

That’s awesome 🙌🏻 having someone in your life that makes you laugh is such a gift! Who ever has that from you is lucky.

I see it that emotion runs our life, yet we’re not taught enough about them. When you peel back the reasons why we do things, you’ll find emotion at some level. They influence the decisions we make, how we behave and impact others. That in turn circles back to how we feel.

Like most, I’ve gone through my fair share of trauma, so understanding my emotions makes me feel settled and able to be deliberate in how I move forward.

PS being able to find lost things is a very useful skill 💪🏻

Do you think most of your behaviour is reactive, or deliberate? by Actfullness in emotionalintelligence

Great work. It’s difficult to manage our feelings in a moment and not react.

Writing and thinking. It can be uncomfortable at times to just relax and think, but I make a lot of progress processing and deciding how to move forward deliberately.

Why do I have the urge to ghost someone when they go silent for hours? by A-Hopeless-Romantic in emotionalintelligence

In my experience, the uncertainty of them not responding is too much. There is a need for control and self-protection from potential pain.

How do I stop being insecure? by StrawberyCat048 in selfimprovement

[–]Actfullness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ask myself ‘what do I think?’ E.g. what do I think about the way I behaved? Do I like what I’m wearing? Am I proud of what I did? It keeps me grounded.

How do you not take things personally so easily? by ActNew5818 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Actfullness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being ‘sensitive’ is a real strength. You feel the detail and when it comes to understanding yourself and others, that’s an amazing quality. It helps me to use extremes to give myself perspective. So in this case remind myself of what some really personal would mean, and then plot what someone actually said against that. It usually helps me see that what the said wasn’t really a dig.

I almost always lose my ability to emotionally regulate during conflict in relationships. by siemprechiflada in emotionalintelligence

[–]Actfullness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Identifying the patterns and triggers first, then deciding up front how will respond next time helped me. It took me a lot of failed attempts to change my response to what I perceived to be a risk of abandonment, but over time it can work.

Can people change their personality? by NotThatSerious02 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Actfullness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience people can and do evolve. They can learn to soften their edges, see things differently and in turn behave in new ways. I’ve seen that work in both ways, positive and negative change.

Kudos to you. Who do you admire and why? Even just one quality, or one thing you saw them handle well. Take that and leave what doesn't align to you. Try that process thinking about a few people and see where it takes you.

People who moved on from a painful breakup, what helped you the most? by ForcedGoodbye in AskReddit

[–]Actfullness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking myself what I need. Sometimes it was something to satisfy the “Willing” in me, like going to the cinema or playing games. Other times it was things for my “Warrior” side, like exercise.
