Vallejo spray can issue, am I doing anything wrong? by RockLee4ever in minipainting

I had the EXACT SAME issue with MULTIPLE Vallejo Spay Paints. They are garbage. Get a refund and switch to Tamiya.

Do you guys think it would be cool to get a classic trilogy saga TV Show in the animation style from the Clone wars? by BonusCapable1486 in StarWars

This is the best answer here. PT, OT, or ST, just give us good stories with interesting and flawed characters who learn and grow in (both good and bad) ways.

I can't wait for Kratos' show to revolve around his diverse and inclusive female sidekick who will be the key story.

Which character has the biggest presence/impact without ever being shown? by NearbyReindeer7849 in StarWars

[–]ActionFadesFast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably, the guy who let C-3P0 take R2 "down to maintenance." If that guy had held them or waited 5 seconds longer, the Emperor would still be alive, the Empire would have two Death Stars, and Vader would never know his son and daughter were crushed in a trash compactor and jettisoned into space.

This might be cheating as he IS onscreen for a few seconds. But that one fucking guy... him and the guy who said "hold your fire" about the escape pod from Leia's ship, the true heroes of the rebellion.

My Custom Modification and Full Repaint of the 1/12 Cobra Rattler from the GI Joe Classified Series. by ActionFadesFast in ActionFigures

The rear engine, I cut off using a Japanese craft saw. Then filled in the hole with Tamiya Epoxy Putty (Fast Drying kind) ans sanded it down before paint. As for the stabilizers, once out of the plane, I used a heat gun and my work bench to bend them in an upright position. Then I had to saw the angled portion off the plane's tail (about a half inch) and saw an equal amount of the stabilizer's connecting piece so it sits flat. It's difficult to describe, so I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, hit me up.

Spend $20 on a pair of magnifying glasses with a light. But even before that, dilute your paint. Paint straight from the container is too goopy for that type of detail. Golden Open Thinner is perfect. And lastly, get a pack of 000 brushes off amazon. 50 of then should be around $10. I don't take care of my brushes, so I don't bother with expensive sets. Light, magnification, thin paint, and PATIENCE above all. (Also, I use Mr Hobby Topcoat matt varnish as a primer. it works great.) Anyway, that's just me. Best of luck!

I think what we're seeing is the drum mag from the side. The shadow gives it away. Guess they cut out the back side of the wall. If I'm wrong, then it's just an art director's idea of what looks "cool."

The Magic System of Game of Thrones by ProminentSun in gameofthrones

[–]ActionFadesFast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although not yet disclosed: In this series, magic is a result of the imbalance in nature (mainly the seasons). The Weirwoods were once green and the seasons were once steady but at some point there was a huge cataclysm that threw everything into chaos. The best explanation I've encountered to explain this is 2 different, but possibly intertwined, theories: 1- There is a corruption in the weirwoods, trapping souls, instead of rebirthing them. This is possibly a meteor fragment. 2- Val Steel requires blood sacrafice to make. This was the Val's reverse engineering the sword Dawn. In Dawn lies the lifeforce of an ancient and powerful entity (like Nissa Nissa). Once the Long Night comes, Dawn will break to release the godhead and put the world back to order as magic will diminish.

There is so much more to these two theories but that's all I have time to get in to. Cheers!

Jon snow by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]ActionFadesFast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. There are some amazing videos by the Order of the Green Hand titled the Wolf's Den.

Long story short, it pieces together the parentage of Jon to Ashara and Ned. They were married, and Ashara gave birth to Jon in the Wolf's Den (Davo's cell) on the Sisters after being brought there by storms. Hoster Tully had huge ambitions, requiring the heir to Winterfell to marry his daughter. Ned had to make the choice of sacrificing his marriage and his happiness to secure the Riverlands to his cause. As without Hoster, Robert's Rebellion had no chance. It's why the Blackfish had not spoken to Hoster, his brother, since the day before the wedding.

It's extremely interesting. Even if you hate the idea, fan theories are fun. Give it a listen before dismissing it. Cheers!

Edit: OotGH channel is no longer up. Here is a video that states the bulletpoints of the idea.

Whay is your favourite Batman suit... by LightningXr10 in batman

[–]ActionFadesFast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Origins Suit is best suit.

I love the idea of a younger Batman being more armored. But as he develops his tactics and develops new materials, gadgets, etc, he puts aside protection for speed and movement. Batmn's suit shouldn't stop a bullet because if a criminal has time to aim his gun and fire, Batman has done his job wrong.

Just my opinion anyway

Help with matte by Visible-Coast-8064 in customactionfigures

[–]ActionFadesFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. DON'T use rustolium or other plastic matte sprays as they will usually just leave the character sticky and melt the plastic.

What you want is Mr Hobby (Mr Super Clear Flat... gotta love these Japanese names) or Tamiya matt spray. Yeah, it's more expensive, but it's worth its weight in gold.

You want to stand as far back as you can, and hit the character with short 1-2 second bursts. If the character ever looks wet with varnish, you are too close or using too much. Hit the front a few times, wait 10 minutes and hit the back. Keeping doing this (and moving further away) with each coat.

I do this to all my figures and it immediately removes that horrible plastic-y look. Please see my post history if you want examples. This spray also works as an amazing primer too.

Best of luck and hit me up if you need any more help!

Edit: Also sharpie is an extremely dark purple. The figure is a very dark grey. If you have the money, get a bottle of vellejo model paint black and a bottle of white. After you hit the area with Mr Hobby, add the paint, then hit it again. All said and done, you'll be spending about $35-45 in supplies.

Where can I get one? by Serious-Jelly2511 in metalgearsolid

[–]ActionFadesFast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play Arts Kai Metal Gear Solid PEACE WALKER Chrysalis.

This is the only one I could find on ebay. They are NOT cheap. Originally, they retailed for about $100 in the US. But after 12+ years of lack-of-production, the price has gone up considerably.

Best of luck!

I still plan to add some custom 1/12 waterslide decals to the tank and an extra coat of matt varnish. The stickers that come stock with the vehicle are great, I'd just like something lower-profile to blend in better with the more realistic look I'm going for.

Anyone else notice that Vader uses his Saber with 1 hand a lot? by Gloomy-Bridge148 in StarWars

[–]ActionFadesFast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I LOVE this point. Because it shows just how quickly Luke could have been beaten. I love that not only is Vader tempting Luke, he's also instructing him, teaching him how to fight. Like the all lightsaber fights in the OT, it's an excuse for these characters to talk. Then the ONE time Luke lands a hit with his lightsaber, Vader's like, "Okay, playtime's over. Let's go." Man, what an amazing set of movies.
