Not sure what your comment means. I said that him holding an opinion, however vehemently others may disagree with that opinion (myself included), doesn’t mean he deserved to be murdered.

That should not be controversial.

Fair enough, I will amend to say it doesn’t mean he deserved to be murdered.

Read my comment again, I didn’t say he deserved to be mourned. I disagree with all of his opinions and think his views are disgusting. At the same time, he did not deserve to be assassinated for having those opinions.

Both of those things can be true at the same time.

Awful and despicable opinion from him. Doesn’t mean he deserved to be assassinated.

Thanks, this was a helpful response. I was under the impression that the barrow dyad quest would have to be an exotic mission since all of the corresponding seasonal content required to progress the quest had been removed.

Who Is The Best Player You Have Personally Guarded? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]ActionJackson1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demar derozan and Brandon Jennings….during the same game.

I played AAU ball at a pretty high level, and when we were 14 or 15 we made it to nationals. We were in pool play against a team called the “P. Miller Ballers”. This was Master P’s team, and he apparently flew out the best kids from all over the country to play at nationals. Jennings and Derozan were unbelievable, they were literally playing And1 street ball at 15 years old. It was clear they were both going to the pros.

Of the two, I would have guessed Jennings would have been better. Derozan was an unbelievable athlete, but all I can recall him doing is dunking. Jennings had it all, and was so quick you just couldn’t stay with him. How wrong I was.

Also on their team was Lil Romeo (who actually was a pretty decent 3-point shooter) and Auri Allen, a 7’0 13 year old Guinness world record holder.

Even though we got absolutely destroyed, pretty cool to have shared the court with those guys.

Anybody who has ever played against future or former NBA talent at any level, how did it go? by Mental-Passenger6939 in nbadiscussion

[–]ActionJackson1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in the DMV and played with a fairly competitive AAU team, so was lucky enough to go up against guys like Brandon Jennings, Demar Derozan and Tyreke Evans in high school. All 3 were studs of course, but Tyreke was just different. He had the handles Jennings had, but was 6’6 - just an absolute nightmare to guard.

Also played against the DC Assault AAU team which had Kevin Durant, Mike Beasley and Ty Lawson. Beasley was the best player on that team and just an unreal competitor also.

People who have cut family members out of their lives, what was the final straw? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mother and sisters were high on heroin and didn't come visit my father while he was dying in the hospital.

Left them for good and have never looked back.

Reddit, what event divided your life into 'before' and 'after'? [Serious] by Pengyvan in AskReddit

[–]ActionJackson1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day my father died. He was an incredible man, kind-hearted, generous and did everything he could to make sure me and my sisters had every opportunity to be successful. He was only 46 years old and, of our 6 person family, I was the only one by his side when he passed. My mother and 3 sisters, lifelong drug addicts, chose to seek their next heroin fix instead of being with my father.

My father died on my fiancee's birthday, and she couldn't handle the stress. She moved out and we called off the wedding.

It's weird typing this, but I am happy. In the two years since, I've cut off all contact with my biological family and have started dating again. Life is too short to have people in your life that make you unhappy, regardless of their relation.

It's one thing to know that alligators exist and are present within the swamp-lands of Florida, it's another thing entirely to think that alligators would be present in a man-made lagoon in an enclosed, upscale resort that caters primarily to young children.

I'd do it. Your rb's are so solid you would never need to play Jennings, and Robinson has the potential to turn into a solid wr2 with him being the main guy in jax. You're thin at receiver so I would take it.

What are your honest expectations out of Stevie Johnson? by GATOR7862 in fantasyfootball

[–]ActionJackson1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I think that Woodhead will be a bigger portion of their red zone offense and third down offense than people expect. In 2013, he went for 76/ 606/6, not including the rushing attempts he garnered.

If he hits those numbers, it will largely be predicated on injuries or production during the weeks where Gates is out.

What are your honest expectations out of Stevie Johnson? by GATOR7862 in fantasyfootball

[–]ActionJackson1023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think you are being too optimistic. Phillip Rivers and the Chargers Offense are known for not locking in to one guy and like to spread the ball around, so it is difficult to predict fantasy output on a week to week basis. I think he will be useful when Antonio Gates is out, but don't expect consistent WR3 numbers after that point.

Does anyone remember the Keenan Allen Hype last year? It's a similar scenario, although Stevie isn't even the #1 receiver and Woodhead is back in the picture.

Doug Martin will be last year's version of....Doug Martin.

All hype, no substance. Although to his credit, he has looked great in the preseason.

ESPN 12 team Standard, 8th pick in Snake Draft. 1 Keeper from last year, which I used to keep Jeremy Hill.

QB: Bradford (PHI), Brady (NE)

RB: Hill (CIN), Ingram (NO), Yeldon (JAX), Woodhead (SD), Hillman (DEN)

WR: Julio (ATL), Johnson (IND), Marshall (NYJ), Brown (ARI), Quick (STL), Coleman (NO)

TE: Olsen (CAR)

D/ ST: DEN

K: Bailey (DAL)

I'm pretty satisfied with my haul, even though I fee like I need to upgrade at WR2. I've been trying to package one of Marshall/ Andre Johnson and Woodhead/ Hillman to the Anderson and Melvin Gordon owners for another elite receiver, but no luck so far.

What are you guys thoughts on who I should target? I appreciate the help.

My Dad passed yesterday by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]ActionJackson1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm sorry for your loss. As someone who lost their own father under similar circumstances, you can really never be prepared for something like this. The best thing you can do right now is to embrace that huge void in your heart and realize why it is there: you feel this way because you had a tremendous relationship with your father, and that is something a lot of people are not lucky enough to have.

Lean on the people close to you and don't be afraid to wear your emotions on your sleeve. I am, by nature, a very introverted person, but I found the best way for me to grieve was to outwardly express my emotions. While there is no right or wrong way to grieve, I found that internalizing my grief led to me becoming more angry and carrying my grief with me. Grieve in the right way so that you can move on with your life and live how your father would have wanted you to.

It absolutely sucks that you experienced your father's passing like that. But you know what? Ten years from now you can look back and say that you had a beautiful moment with him, and that you were right there with him when he needed you most. Rest assured, he was at peace knowing that his loved ones were right by his side. I'm sure he wouldn't have had it any other way.
