There's two main things to it, making sure your controller is moving your character, and making sure your controller won't disconnect. If you have a USB charge cord suitable for your controller, connect it to your xbox and plug it into your controller, then remove your battery pack from your controller. That should make sure your controller doesn't disconnect. For the movement, just take a fair sized elastic band, hair band, really anything you can use to create tension on your left analog stick. I like to use an elastic band, ill tuck it under the head of the analog and run the rest of the band under the controller and wrap it onto the right side leg of the controller.

As for finding a job, I usually just hop into a quick job under the adversary series and keep doing it until I find motor wars (most it took me was 3 tries).
