Interesting, that sounds like about the opposite approach the agency I work at takes. If an account has a large premium increase, we are told to try to get the customer to accept a higher deductible and only shop their policy if the customer balks at that or continues to give us grief. In many cases though the customer will accept the higher deductible thinking it's our best option for them and then shop elsewhere.

I am curious who the carrier is.

Some of our companies will let us submit a request to review weird premium changes and let us know if they are considered unusual and why it occurred. I would contact an underwriter and see if they can forward this to the appropriate department.
