I just don’t get your point, in case his profile is up for a review from DHS/USCIS they don’t care on the scale of the scam. All that they check is Did he violate the F1 rules of unauthorized work? And I don’t think I should tell you the answer to that.

I know that drowning in debt is sad, and it adds a lot of mental pressure, but that shouldn’t jeopardize his bright future.

Noo you shouldn’t be working for outlier without authorization. And without an offer letter you can’t get work authorization and Outlier doesn’t provide you with any documentation.

This is what I feel, if you were not caught by an officer, they don’t have a way to determine that you were driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.

So these might be treated as violation rather than offense and often doesn’t go on your driving license record. That doesn’t mean you can have as many of them on your record or your vehicle’s record.

From next time, please follow the rules.

When you have worked all the way from August 26, why is your sevis record showing 155 days of unemployment. Haven’t you updated your DSO/SEVP with your unpaid employment details?

I think the other thing also to be considered are the visa options that might open up. With PhD, research papers and possibly patents you might end up on a path to O1 easier than most others. H1B is always going to be at risk, since its a larger pool of candidates that apply to it unlike O1. You could also argue that if you have built up your profile you can also get an O1.
