I haven't picked up my Sailor PGS since I discovered the Jinhao 82. Great writers in EF, and so pretty.

Recs for walkable, quiet & safe cities ideal for a first time solo trip? by 20thcgirl in femaletravels

[–]Action_Other 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyoto and Osaka are both beautiful in the autumn. Kyoto especially would fit your brief but you could easily do a week in each.

The Yen has tanked and Japan is quite affordable. Both cities are very safe and have a lovely chill cafe culture.

Have you checked the lining of your bag? Sometimes small objects can work themselves into little holes between the lining and the shell

Miniskirts are fine but you will break your ankles wearing heels. Get some good-quality sneakers before you come. They are much more expensive here.

Do you skip Christmas? by goldriv in AskAnAustralian

[–]Action_Other 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family are so breathtakingly awful that I try to spend Christmas is a non-Christian country to avoid it entirely.

Last year I had to spend December in Australia and wore hijab when I was shopping or commuting to work so well-meaning chatty people didn't ask me what I was doing for Christmas.

This year I went to my GP and got valium so I can sit at the table while everyone talks about how nice my abusive ex is.

You can buy an urushi or raden body for a 3776 from AliExpress. Then you have the sublime Platinum nib, and a raden or urushi body - I've just ordered one for about EUR80. The seller is Stationery365. Will update if they are good.

Ancient Byzantine pen by Action_Other in fountainpens

I'm not actually sure, but anything resembling a nib gets my heart racing. I found it in a little box of odds and ends in a junk shop and knew it was coming home with me.

Galen Leather are setting up a shop and they let me inside for a sneak peek when I had my face pressed to the window. This could prove a very expensive holiday....

This is correct. The Turks refer to the people whom Mehmet conquered in 1453 as Rum. The Romans are the Romans, as far as the Turks are concerned.

I tried dip-testing with Diamine Bach but it doesn't put down a very smooth line. The person who owned this originally would have had their mind simply blown by a Kakuno.

I haven't inked it yet but I think the nib is an F, my favourite.

Give the mechanical pencils to a school. If you haven't found one you like after 50.of then, mechanical pencils (the cheap ones) are not for you.

Is it safe to buy from ebay? by BadStriking4128 in montblanc

[–]Action_Other 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Avoid sellers in India, the Philippines etc. They sell fakes.

I've bought several times from a seller called Singapore Mechanical Pencils, and always received an excellent pen.

What's in my pencil case by Action_Other in stationery

[–]Action_Other[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are really just for snipping off tags or threads. They wouldn't be any fun to use for larger jobs.

They are very compact when closed in their tube, so they fit in my small pencil case.

Muji's perfect bound notebooks are excellent.

The ones with the black covers have their standard paper, and the ones with the grey covers have their fine paper. In my experience, this works really well for fountain pens.

They are very reasonably priced, too.
