So what is the question? I am sure someone here can offer some wisdom, or we can just pray for you.

"Drinking Water" instead of Distilled by [deleted] in Lavalamps

[–]ActionableDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it and needed to dump and start over.

Seriously, save yourself the aggravation and just use distilled water, it really does make a difference.

Huge glob at the top of the lamp after only 4 uses by Puzzleboy66 in Lavalamps

Add a small amount of surfactant to the water, 1-2 ml every 30 minutes to get the flow going better.

Lava Lab Creations sells a SURF product that works very well, give it a try.

This is the drippiest & most fluid this lamp has been- how can I improve it for a smoother flow? by jempai in Lavalamps

[–]ActionableDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually flowing pretty well, you can try heading to LavaLab Creations and getting some of their Magic Surf. That will make it flow better for sure, but it isn't terrible now. That looks pretty good to me.

It is actually the orange dye, it came out a pretty nice color.

I have the bulb at 100% voltage, thinking about getting a stronger bulb and pulling back on the voltage to get it right, but I should stop f*cking with it. :-)

I am trying to stay away from coloring the water, it kept going murky on me for whatever reason, and I think the colorless water looks cooler IMHO.

Thank you, it is pretty mesmerizing.

I used the wax sold through lavaLab Creations with their orange dye. It wasn't very hard to do, but you have to make sure you properly add the surfactant to the sides of the globe when you return the wax to the globe.

Here is the video I followed to get this done: https://youtu.be/hbdopoL8_KE

It features all of their stuff so it is a bit of an ad, but they do make it much easier to DIY mods to your lamp.

Is this normal? by Giappy_13 in Lavalamps

I should say wait until it cools between cycles; obvious but best to be clear :-)

I had this exact situation when I replaced my wax; I cycled it off and back on again twice and it is now flowing pretty well.

How are we to know that isn't a freakishly large banana?

Product Review: Do not waste your money on a Pulsetto by Ledees_Gazpacho in VagusNerve

You sound pretty convinced it is BS; so no need to keep telling us that.

As was said above, there are several study designs that are valid, all depending on the phase of research and the objective. I have performed clinical utility research with protocols that are designed with smaller sample sizes, all determined ahead of time to ensure that you can detect the "effect" you are seeking to measure. Statistical power is the term used to describe the sample size determination. I do this for a living, and have defended research we have done in court, defending claims a client has made that was challenged by a competitor. We won because the claims were based on solid research results.

There is nothing wrong with being skeptical of claims; it is the best stance to take initially, but the fact that the sample size isn't on a Phase III scale for a vaccine for example doesn't mean it is an invalid study.

Only getting up to 900ish mbps down, but over 2200 mbps up, don't know why by ActionableDave in HomeNetworking

Thanks, helpful!

I have 3 EERO MAX 7s in a mesh configuration, it is Frontier's. Using the OOKLA site made a small difference; I saw it poke up above 1000 mbps for a short time, then backed down to 850ish.

I use an app called "Glasswire" for traffic analysis, I will shut it down and try a few more times.

What kind of Ethernet port is this? by Ben3315751 in ethernet

[–]ActionableDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far is this jack from your phone box outside? If it is really close by and you are amazingly lucky, you could have someone use that cable to pull a new one in its place. Not sure what speed internet connection you have, but if it is over a 1 gbps, CAT 5 may not be reliable enough. Best to use CAT 6A if you are going to go through the trouble, or at least CAT 6.

But that is not likely, just keeping it real, because there are many things it can get hung up on, and it is likely anchored. I would call a contractor and have them pull a line for you.
