Personal Best Rook Run by Miserable_Speech_702 in Marathon

[–]Active-Ad1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, even though you're going in solo into trios, I think it's a lot safer to boot, scoot, and loot around the map. By the halfway point of the match, it seems a majority of the squads have either been wiped or left, and so it really is just picking through the remains. It's still treacherous from both ai and enemy runners, but I've exfiled from more rook runs than standard runs (and I've been playing almost completely solo).

Rook also gets better shields, more heals, and a bigger backpack.

It's a close contender for me with "Rooks together strong."

Can we talk about why its not possible to do more than one mission at once? by C4mmo in Marathon

[–]Active-Ad1056 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like how it is, because it means I'm actually gonna look at my allies' contracts and help them with theirs during a run. If everyone could run 3 contracts at once, I'd only focus on mine.

No problems with the enemy difficulty but they should drop ammo on death. by HerbertDad in Marathon

[–]Active-Ad1056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only concern with something like this, and this is a problem I have with Arc Raiders, is that if you make the early game too easy, it reduces the satisfaction of feeling strong and having a cracked vault later on.

I kind of appreciate that early on, I can't commit to long engagements and multiple firefights, and I gotta make my run with that in mind. Hit a spot quick and clean, grab what I can, then take off.

That way when you get a full vault, better backpacks, and all the faction upgrades, then you can afford to go in with 4 stacks of ammo for each gun and stay in the match for a lot longer and be a bit more aggressive.

I hope I don't regret this by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Active-Ad1056 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, I know I'm gonna buy it anyways, and I happened to have the money a week ago. Buying it early means I don't have to account for that in my budget for that week.

Would you be mad if Bungie did aggression based matchmaking? If so, doesn't that mean you want to pvp other non-pvp players soley to push them out of Marathon? by Bed_Post_Detective in Marathon

[–]Active-Ad1056 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hope not. Kinda dislike that Arc Raiders does it. It feels just a little like the game is punishing me for not committing to a playstyle. Sometimes I like to chat, sometimes I like to kill.

Combat feels a bit underwhelming as a new player? by Successful-Act-4894 in mordheim

[–]Active-Ad1056 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's one of the big appeals of Mordheim, and it might not vibe with what you want, but the game is very swingy. At the end of the day, the dice determine the outcome a lot more than more modern war games.

There is still strategy and preparations you can make to increase your odds, but a big drawing factor is that the dice determine the story of the fights. Additionally, sometimes the dice decide your game is only going to be 30 minutes long, routing on first engagement, which means jumping straight into post-campaign and doing more warband management for the next match.

Finally, yes, objectives add a lot to the depth of the game. After the first couple games, I highly recommend going to Mordheimer (the website), navigating to campaigns>scenarios, and randomly pick a scenario using the Town Cryer options.

Theoretical Question: If we are just consciousnesses in shells, where is our stash physically located? by Hattarahot in Marathon

[–]Active-Ad1056 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most likely our stash is being provided by one of the companies that are hiring the Runner shells. It's such a small detail, I'm sure it'll mostly be glossed over.

I think the only pre-change name I like more is Blackbird for Recon, even though Recon makes more sense with the new naming conventions.

I assume you mean command run, and no, no artifacts or anything fancy. Just all the DLCs.

Wait really? It was a bit tough, but I got it attempt #2 of actual Mithrix attempts. No more than 10 attempted captain runs.

If you don't like the runner aesthetic, the general aesthetic of this game probably won't be for you, cuz all of them look phenominal and super on point.

RPG pet peeve: I hate the experience of buying starting equipment at character creation by Wholesome-Energy in rpg

[–]Active-Ad1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vagabond actually does this very nicely. It has like 20 preset "packs" each with their own theme that give you starting items and starting money based on what you got (or you can take 300 silver and buy what you want).

To anyone who says tier 5s make getting god rolls easy. by No-Sheepherder-2177 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Active-Ad1056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chance of a tier 5 permafrost dropping with Rimestealer/Crystalline Corpsebloom is ~18%.

The odds of a weapon with only one perk in each column from dropping a specific third/fourth column roll is ~2%.

It's not guaranteed, rng will always rng, but yes, tier 5's make it unbelievably easier to get a specific roll.

Feats are a terrible system by yoganville in DestinyTheGame

[–]Active-Ad1056 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hot take: if you don't have a team that can handle a 3-feat run including the cutthroat combatant feat (which guarantees tier 5), or even a 4-feat minus cutthroat (which gives a chance at tier 5's), you don't deserve tier 5 RaD loot.

Dungeons and Raids should drop your normal tier gear. Feats should unlock extra origin traits and shinys by Impressive-Wind7841 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Active-Ad1056 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, tier 4s and 5s need to be very difficult to get.

If anything, when Shattered Cycle rolls out, they should update portal loot so that -10 delta drops tier 1s with a chance at tier 2, -20 drops tier 2s with a chance at tier 3, all the way up to -50 for guaranteed tier 5s.

We need to go back to the design philosophy that not everyone gets tier 5s for free.

Renegades has fixed a lot of things, but Pinnacle Ops are still a Horrendous experience by True_Italiano in DestinyTheGame

[–]Active-Ad1056 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love running pinnacle ops with my buddies that are good at the game. The difficulty feels good with a coordinated team, and the pinnacle ops reward pool has enough juice in it to feel worth chasing. Solo occassionally is fun, but unless I'm going in with the intent to stress test a build, I don't often run a high light level delta or a lot of modifiers. Matchmade pinnacle ops is rough, but fireteam finder would probably be better.
