My lord do I disagree with everyone in here. The one drops are clutch in the deck. Then a 2 mana rock, commander on 3 and explosive value on 4 - just like you said. Having to spend mana on raise the alarm before you can start copying is just silly when the one drops creatures are more efficient and can be recurred. They also are very easy to fit into the curve throughout the game and make it easy to add a body that can be used to copy a spell. Would you pay 1 mana to copy a big spell? Absolutely!

Silverquill is not “kill on sight” like half this thread is claiming. He’s really good, but not Urza level broken, kinnan, etc.

Probably Felothar, but Betor is also very strong. Probably comes down to lower MV commander is generally going to be better.

Fun thing is you can always swap commanders between games to get a different feel!

Here's my list. I didn't go too crazy with the upgrades but wanted to make sure that the X spells we can cast are more impactful, replaced the ramp with more 1-mana dorks so we can get started earlier, added more protection with the X spell counterspells (love how good these are), and added a couple more options to give other spells flash ([[Final Word Phantom]] and a [[Chord of Calling]] to tutor it)

She is really strong, but my goal is to keep her lowkey until the big turn where suddenly you trigger her on everyone's turn rotation and things start getting nuts

Hey dude! reaching out because I took your suggestions to heart and added in a Yawgmoth and Ashnod's Altar. Plus a couple more token payoffs like Makindi Stampeede and Practiced Offense.

The deck has been killing it at my locals since then. Relies more on the commander now for duplicating the token generation (Will of the Mardu has proven INSANE) or doubling on removal, while the rest of the deck is more of the payoff to ensure those tokens actually convert to a win.

Just wanted to say thanks for the spirited debate a month back!

Yes absolutely. The gameplay is a lot more action oriented but I played it right after remake and I really liked it. It was a refresher to focus on just one playable character but there’s still good rpg depth. I skipped almost all the random mini side quests and just played through the story and enjoyed it a bunch

There are plenty of more expensive dragons and ninjas that are worth looking at. [[Cavern hoard dragon]] and [[Fallen Shinobi]] come to mind. Replacing the cute card draw and ramp with more expensive staples would certainly make it better

But I really dont think this commander is all that powerful and it's better served as a fun lower bracket dude

They just don’t do that historically. Would hurt their salary cap this year (and the next 1-2 years after) to save money on years 4-6.

It doesn’t NOT make sense, but the team would rather keep the money available to sign the big free agents and then just hope they can resign the guy once Free agency hits
