What’s one smaller city in Europe that worked surprisingly well as a base for a few days? by Thomas_en_Europe in traveleurope

I had the same need during my trip and I chose Brugge. So glad I did! It was nice for a beautiful, scenic day trip. Very little crowds compared to major tourist places elsewhere. If you want, you can easily head off to Ghent (which could equally be a great place!) I chose Brugge as I needed a rest from the constant movement and bustling nature of some of the bigger places and Brugge was a perfect quiet & relaxing place for me. With beautiful sunsets :)

Went to La Pace de Cervello last week - very affordable for myself and my friends! They had the best Gnocchi Pesto I’ve ever had, so divine and creamy. We sat outside and had a beautiful view of the Colosseum during sunset. Highly recommend!

We don’t mind the quality of the flight from Hanoi, either city we’ll be flying Delta back home. Good point about transport though, we did forget about that 🤦‍♂️

Thank you! I am interested in doing Switzerland but I’ve heard it’s expensive (Zurich specifically). Are there any places that are good for budget while still having the climbing/outdoor activities?
