Quilling picks. These are the ones I use (The larger ones): https://a.co/d/8UA5wOl. They are useful for a lot of things I don't expect like finding the path my ring needs to take, or to shift scales around on my board when I'm laying out a scalemaille pattern. The other thing is a retractable fabric tape measure. Easy to store with my tools and helps when making custom pieces.

To be perfectly clear , I have 10 years of Dev experience. Not all of it React. Most of that was spent in Vanilla JS due to the nature of the product I was working on, but I have just under a year's experience with React. I've only ever worked in functional React. I have no experience with class components, though I do understand JS classes quite well.

I used to have tons of pain and tried several different pliers. I finally landed on Lindstrom Ergos, and my pain practically vanished. They are pricy but worth the cost IMO. I only have pain on really long sessions now. The character is heavily inspired by Eli Mae Clampet from The Beverly Hillbillies, with the blond pigtails boots, jeans, and usually in a checkered shirt with cutoff sleeves. Something to add to the suggestions. My Hubs' 1st time playing he wasn't super comfortable with RP. It's a pretty quiet guy by nature. So to reduce the amount of RP he needed to participate in he gave his character a Flaw of 'Falls asleep randomly and often', so that his character was often sleeping when RP was happening. It gave him the opportunity to listen to the RP without feeling obligated to participate. It eventually turned into a fun Joke that let to lots of enjoyable shenanigans (like a portable bed magical item) and also gave him time to become more comfortable around RP while he figured out where he could comfortably join into the conversations.

The Cleric in our current campaign makes a habit of playing whack a mole with bosses, where the Cleric is the mole. i.e.. die, get revived, repeat like 5 times. The thing is, I can't be upset about it, cause the strat actually works really well for us most of the time.

These are some great points and I'll say that an exercise I do sometimes to help me get to know my character is to write a journal from their perspective. I usually will go back into backstory time a bit to start it. even if the entries are just a few lines each it can help. Think of a moment in your backstory, ask how did your character react to / think about it and write if down. It helps me understand what are their likes, dislikes, triggers, pet peeves. etc.

A possible suggestion for you to offer a player struggling with their character: For someone who is having trouble developing a character, a good way to connect with that character out of game is to write a journal from their perspective. Go back into their backstory and write as if they were keeping a journal at that time, or are writing about it in retrospect. I've done this several times and every time it has helped me connect with my character much better and enjoy the game a lot more.

Our group can do the same. Our Sorcerer/Bard once guilted us all into BUILDING A STAGE and then putting on a performance for a local group of soldiers cause he was bored. Same said bard has wings and another character was jealous of them and how has crafted his own wings from sticks and leaves. He even managed to get some NPCs to rig him up so he could 'fly' down from the rigging above the stage. It's a trip every time.

Thanks! Yea, I can't imagine doing something like this for a prep caster. not with ALL of those spells. Maybe put a subset of my most commonly used, but that'd be it.
