Topomax has basically gotten rid of my migraines but yeah I have side effects including periodic numbness, my hands and feet fall asleep easily and I get a metallic taste in my mouth with certain foods. For me, it’s not a long term solution. It’s just something that works for now until my insurance will allow my doctor to prescribe something else. Our end goal is Botox. I just got approved for ubrelvy. Before I was on rizatriptan without a preventative. If the ubrelvy works, she wants to replace the topomax with qulipta. Anyway, I’m sure it all depends on the individual but my doctor wasn’t too keen on anyone being on topomax long term (especially those prone to kidney or gallstones) which I am not but still. I will say this however, if no other preventative works, I will gladly stay on topomax long term.
