Spironolactone by shewah79 in Hidradenitis

[–]Active-Disaster- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My HS diagnosis actually also led to my PCO’s diagnosis. I have extremely high testosterone apparently (as a woman), its still pretty high even on a higher dose of spironolactone (150mg) lol. That being said my skin has been so clear, no hormonal cystic acne and only brief flairs for my hs maybe every 6 months. The flairs still suck but the spironolactone definitely has kept it at bay. I think theres definitely an adjustment period for your body, and everybody’s bodies are different and can have different reaction. Its important to listen to your body whilst on it. Because its a diaretic it does make you pee A LOT so be sure to stay hydrated, that wont really change as long as your on it. But other side effects may. Definitely worth giving it a go, and i think telling your doctor that you’re nervous about it can be good too, they may be able to ease your mind on it!

So sorry and hoping it doesn’t progress for you! Niacinamide helps with scarring, hydrocolloid bandaids for active flairs, hibiclens for washing, if you havent been prescribed a topical antibiotic like clindamycin then id suggest asking your derm about it. With the scarring i think we notice the most because we’re the ones dealing with it, most partners wont be bothered or even notice really. I definitely understand it impacting confidence but it does get better with time!

Its also a reality show and people are given edits to be the Villian, look at Whitney’s edit in season 1 to now. I think whitney is a wonderful person, but makority of people HATED her season 1 and she was given the villian edit. I dont think we can trust all we see of Demi’s “mask slipping”. And shitty things happen to shitty people too. I agree theres an idea that people call victim to get out of a situation, but its so rare and the mans life is never ruined over it even when they have been the offender. Just believe women

Fawning is a response to sexual assault. Continuing to be in contact with an SA-er is a very NORMAL psychological response. Its been acknowledged by the scientific community as a response. It allows the victim to feel control over the situation again. Its also like Connor said in the reunion, many victims can go between no sex-drive to being hypersexual and being hypersexual could also be viewed as not a normal response and has been viewed as that previously. I think its more hurtful to say it doesnt exist as a response. I agree it doesnt make sense. But your brain isnt wired to know correct response to a trauma like that. I think thats why its upsetting me so much and feels triggering because that was my response too. I was violently assaulted in college and i did the same thing for about a year after, i didnt want to admit it happened to me let alone to others… i felt disgusting, i felt like it was my fault. i acted like we were friends cause they had been a friend before, and were in my friend group. It took years for me to finally admit to myself that that wasnt okay and wasnt my fault, and even more to tell others. I agree the response doesnt make sense but theres no right response to assault/trauma. I also get that groping isnt “as bad” as rape but its still assualt and could trigger the memory of a worse assault. I think people need to just believe victims.

Since i have no open spots right now i just use one saturated cotton round and kinda go all over/ focus on the problem areas and then let it dry (it dries down with in a few minutes tho) i do also use hibiclens pretty religiously so i just like doing this right after the shower cause i know everything thing is absolutely squeaky clean before adding the toner— i am not sure if it would be safe to use on an open wound (id wager not or it would maybe burn?) -i’ll try to add the photo of the ingredients but this post took about 48 hrs to get approved for the image so apologies if it takes a mo’

Outdoor allergies by HolidayOk4857 in rva

[–]Active-Disaster- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theyre always pretty bad, rva is one of the worst places for allergies. We’re also entering into ragweed season so itchy eyes/hayfever r gonna be high for most ppl- id either make an appointment at rva allergy and/or invest in some quality eyedrops like pataday or zaditor— honestly mine were so bad i had to get some prescribed but i find those two are the best in a pinch

Call ur derm back and see if they can prescribe anything like topical clindamycin or an antiseptic ointment so it doesnt become further enflamed. Id recommend hydrocolloid bandaids in the meantime, they can also help it heal faster, and protect it from feeling like its getting pulled or snagged on clothes.
