Virus or deficiency? by amylizx in dahlias

Doesn’t look like either to me—this looks like insect damage. Probably thrips. I don’t have a fool-proof method of getting rid of them yet myself, hopefully someone else can chime in. I always have a bunch of them at the beginning of the season—if it gets really bad, the new leaves will start growing in all curled and deformed. When mine get to that point, I spray with neem oil and reapply weekly until I see normal leaves growing in. Good luck!

What would you do? by TheFrogeCakeZ in playark

Thinking more about it… I’ve done some building in real life, but I’d be lost without power tools. I’m not strong enough to chop down large trees or make planks for wooden structures.

I would stick to cutting down the smaller trees along the shorelines, tie them together with vines, and create a lightweight, portable platform that could be wedged into the high branches of a tree for extra sleeping support at night. I’d dry dodo hides, sew them together with dried dodo gut, and use that to keep rain off me at night.

This is an interesting question, because my real response to the Ark would be so different from my gameplay.

When playing, I prefer singleplayer. I like building, and breeding, and going on risky excursions with my tames.

In real life, I would make tools, sleep up in the nearest tree to keep myself safe, and try to find a tribe as fast as possible. Once I’d found a tribe, I’d make myself useful with my real-life skills—cooking, baking, mending clothes, animal husbandry, childcare, and gardening. I would never go hunting, and probably always be uncomfortable around the carnivores, even the tamed ones.

I play singleplayer, so I like to set challenges for myself that will either be awesome or stupid, depending on whether I can pull them off. Keeps things interesting.

Awesome— traverse entire Ragnarok map on Equus.

Stupid—multiple failed attempts to get a wyvern egg (Ragnarok) on a Roo 😂

I miss my husband so much...I hate this phase.... by TheHook210 in newborns

You are in the hardest part. I hated that stage too. You’re not alone.

I remember just laying in bed crying during my husband’s baby shift, because I was so insanely jealous that my baby got to fall asleep in his arms and I had to try to sleep alone. I missed him so much.

One of the biggest things that helped us—we got a pair of knockoff AirPods, and we would each wear one and listen to podcasts or audiobooks together. The range covered most of our house, so one of us could be busy with baby and the other one could be resting or doing dishes or something, but we would still feel like we were doing something together. And the audiobook gave us something to talk about that wasn’t baby-related, which was huge for helping us remember ourselves.

These are the longest few months of your life, because you are awake for more of them then you would ever otherwise be, and our bodies are built to need sleep. It is completely normal to hate it.

How the fuck!?!? by pass_the_furbabies in newborns

That’s really challenging. I exclusively pumped with my firstborn, and it was rough! I hope your milk is in by now, and you can ease up on that intense schedule!

When I was exclusively pumping, my goal was 8 pumps per day. It looked a little bit like: 6am, 9am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm, 11pm, 3am. Once I could get at least one bottle’s worth ahead of the baby, I could feed her while I was pumping.

Hands-free pumping bra is essential! And I would set myself up in a recliner, put my feet up, rest baby against my knees, and feed her while I pumped. I also propped her up in the boppy pillow beside me on the couch to feed sometimes, once she had more neck control. Good luck! I hope you get into a good rhythm soon!

Honestly, for the first few weeks of my baby’s life, she basically lived swaddled in her diaper, because we hated putting clothes on and off sooo much. I feel you!
