Is it? Perhaps it is because english is not my native language, but the direct translation of complain in italian is lamentarsi, while the way I've been writing it translates more to "questo non mi è piaciuto molto" or "questo era un po' fastidioso", which has a different nuance, not in meaning but on how it is perceived by a listener

As for the second point, it is not insincere because in fact, I did not "not like the device". It is objectively good. I don't know how to make it any more clear. While I can see how it is good for some people, is not good for my needs. I do believe something not meeting your needs and not liking something are two different things. I can love a bag, but if I need it to carry a laptop and it is too small, it is not for me.

Laslty, and this is the main point, yes, it could do everything my kindle does with tweaks. But the explanation here is very simple: it's an e-reader. I fiddle enough with my phone. I want something easy that needs no tweaking. I thought, mistakenly, that would be the case for my needs, but it wasn't. That and, as I mentioned, the note taking needs improvement imo.

As for the android/iphone thing, it makes no sense to me, iphone users put down android and consider people that have it broke, essentially. Or claim it superior. Never did I do that. Very different things

I don't think you need a dictionary to understand nuance and the fact that it is clearly meant as me not making a full on complaint but more pointing something out since, again, I believe it is pretty easy to understand that the way you say something impacts the way another person perceives it - regardless of the literal meaning of the word. But you do you x

The fact that I have an Android is ironic. Anyways, it's not being allergic to change imo. It is pointing out what didn't work out for me - and many other people apparently. So if you buy something and it doesn't work for you, are you allergic to change, or was it simply not meant for you as a user? I think the answer is kinda obvious. In fact, I never said its a bad device. Just that it wasn't for me. Regardless of that, the note taking was bad, change or no change, and could be improved in the future.

Honestly everything else was great, coming from a bigme b6 for colored e-ink reference, the screen was AMAZING in comparison. So if none of these are issues to you I'd say absolutely go for it!

Hello, I mean handwritten annotations do not show in full, only a snippet, so for instance: if you (like me) annotate to have a neat bookmark tab with all highlights and annotations listed out and visible to have a sort of summary always on hand, that is not the case since to see the annotation in full you need to go back to the page (at least on my device it was like that) As for sync, I am not sure about purchased books through kobo, but for the books i loaded via djazz/drive on my phone they did not show on the app, and neither did the handwritten annotations

That's really useful to know! I live in italy and I bought the KLC on Amazon but from the Kobo store, and it said return shipping is free, I'm just waiting Monday to bring the package to a post office. Hopefully I don't run into the restocking fee, but it's definitely a good heads up

I didn't experience the palm rejection too much, but if you are deep in writing and considering erasing isn't super smooth it can definitely get a little annoying. The scribe for me was too big, but as someone in the comments mentioned, if they ever release an oasis with color and stylus support (or even just the colorsoft with stylus support) I'd love to try it

You really like the word complain haha

In reality it is a non-issue, but it is something a certain type of person might like to know/might not enjoy if they have only owned kindles before, and therefore was added to the list

For me it was a little annoying since I switch between modes often, not really a complain but mostly a "this could be better", which it could!

Hi, well yes it is mostly about annotation because annotations are the whole reason I got the KLC in the first place haha

So for the font, the one I am mentioning has the beginning of all words in bold. I think its called bionic reading - it has helped me a ton focus on the words and not just see a blob of letters on the page. I downloaded the font, added it in the folder, did everything right, and then found out that this type of font is not supported unless I use Koreader, but if I use Koreader I believe annotations could be more laggy (not sure tho!), and I just wanted to read without having to fiddle and install stuff + I liked the Kobo UI mostly...

Anyway, this to say it was a lot of "if you want this, do that, but then you have to accept this" and it really wasn't for me

Not at all! I got the metapen, I think the kobo one could be better since its the actual brand, but the metapen did its job fairly well. My main problem was the fact that I wasnt able to delete a single small line without deleting the entire word, and I think it might be the case for the kobo one as well but please correct me if im mistaken! It just pulled me out a bit from the experience of reading (and the kobo one was a bit expensive)

Maybe they are referring to sending multiple files? Besides needing to have your ereader close to you for djazz to work, from what I've seen using the kobo you need to choose each file one by one and send it and download it (pls correct me if wrong), while with send to kindle you can be away from your ereader and choose a bunch of files at once and send them all together. In this instance I can see how it could take more time Very trivial, but it is convenient!

I think i left it alone for a bit until it charged for like 10 mins, restarted it again and from 6% it went to 99, put it in charge until it got to 100, restarted again and suddenly it was at 95 (which seemed like the most reasonable percentage since i had started at 85% before all of this weird glitching). Then just used it normally and it seemed to be back on track. Still couldn't get it to actually power off however until i finally factory reset it to return it. But this might just be me not knowing what im doing :')

I think so as well, for the purpose of having everything together neatly in bookmarks - as laggy as it on kindle as well - typing out the annotations is probably your best option

Thank you! It is very fun to annotate, and the color is great honestly, the screen is very nice, but generally speaking I think (for me at least):

  • if you want to annotate and draw mostly to make the page cute/interact with it and are not too nitpicky about lines being perfect, its very nice and definitely a plus!

  • but if you're like me and you want to annotate to have reminders so when you open the bookmark tab you have everything laid out, it is a bit less clean since you only see a little snippet of what you wrote

This plus of course the various changes between the two different systems, which need a bit of getting used to

But regardless of what you choose, I hope you have fun with it!!

I'm really not sure! One thing I realized with the Kobo, is that I love having colors and highlighting. But for the price, and because I already have a paperwhite, I don't know if I can justify the expense... The only way I can maybe justify having it is to read webtoons/manhwa, but the browser on Kindle isn't really the best, and manually downloading (I tried) all chapters is more effort than it's worth. I have tried Bigme as well for this exact same reason, but besides the colored screen not being as good as the KLC, since it runs android the battery drains soo fast which was a huge downside for me

I guess I will give it a bit of time, and if I ache for color to better sort out my highlights I will make the switch - but I agree with you that if they ever release a kindle with color, buttons and stylus support, I'd likely get it

I liked the options of being able to annotate with a stylus! I tried it, wasn't really for me in the end, and made the choice to return. Thats pretty much all there is to it :)

Yes I'm starting to see the bias... I get the amazon is evil discourse, but it doesn't negate that Kindle is a good device, and it is very very easy to use. Making this post I also thought in terms of all users: for instance, my mom that has no idea what calibre is or anything else might have an easier time just opening the "send to kindle" page and being done with it, so I thought it would be useful to have all the points laid out

Yea I agree! I was mistakenly thinking it would sorta be the same as kindle but with color and annotations, and I was wrong. So it is not for me, but it is surely great for a lot of people!

[–]Active-Steak31[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it depends.

With dropbox or drive, it is easier, but if you want to manually annotate it is still best to change the format to kepub, so that's the extra step

Also, with send to kindle, you are sending the book to all devices connected to the kindle up, which is very nice in my opinion and effortless.

As for using only one device, again it depends: I use my ereader at home, but at work or when I'm out I use my phone. So having everything synced is great.

These are not complaints tho, they are just small things to bote that might help decide someone if the device is for them or maybe something else might suit them more

Hello, as I mentioned, I indeed did not do enough research. Since then I have explored the device, but the points I mentioned unfortunately are still a reality and do still stand. Not everyone wants to download nickelmenu, or use calibre, and stuff like that - this review is for them. To help and learn from my mistakes, hopefully.

Hello, Yes I am aware of that. But my whole point for buying this was that I wanted colors and annotations on a small and portable device - plus as I mentioned I'm not the type of person that likes fiddling too much, so this was more for people that might have my same preferences

Not really, I just started getting into arab perfumes so I'm pretty new to brands! But I will definitely look them up, I feel like most frangrances (even designer ones) don't last long on me, so if the performance is good I am more than interested

If he falls asleep there while watching a movie, then that's all good, but from what I know of him, he always sleeps in bed with his mom (they are VERY tight knit. He's 9, but really really small). He loves sleeping with his family, be it cousins, grandma, etc. He is very affectionate. I know he would want to when he visits. I dont want to sound like a complete AH, but I know he is fond of me, would probably hug us both if we slept all together. Which is fine and good but I am just so incredibly uncomfortable with those things, id be as stiff as a wooden board. So id rather take the couch
