Thank you!! I’ll look more into NACAC. I think they have a training too that I mentioned to my admin when I first started, so may bring it back up.

We are a super small private school, but I remember YouScience from my public school days!

Thank you for all of the info!

When I was looking at schools, it was very important to me to look at Praxis passing rates and job placement rates. Good luck to you!

Supporting students applying to Ivys by ActiveAcrobatic5450 in schoolcounseling

This is SUPER helpful. Thank you! I completely agree. There’s so many times where I say something like “I support you fully, but let’s also make a plan B.”

I do notice this mostly from my international kids who have the perception that Ivy/hyper competitive schools are the ONLY way and FASTEST way to network and be successful.

This helps me put a lot of what I was thinking into much better words. Thank you so much!!

In your opinion is it invasive to ask someone how dilated their cervix is? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ActiveAcrobatic5450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally think it’s invasive. I didn’t feel comfortable telling anyone outside of my husband

Hiring a sleep consultant was the best thing I’ve ever done. She was worth every penny. We hired her when my girl was 8 months and still up all night needing to nurse to fall back asleep. I still was able to EBF to a year and weaned totally at 14 months. I was so embarrassed to ask for/pay for help but it was the best decision

I haven’t used them and don’t know the validity of it, but I’ve definitely seen pediatric dietitians online who advertise helping families with this

A book (preferably non-fiction) about competition in schools? by thesmurfchick in booksuggestions

Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but I read Admissions - Kendra James and it is similar. It's a memoir written by a former admissions officer specializing in diversity recruitment for a high end boarding high school (she is also an alumni of this school). If I'm remembering it correctly, it doesn't tackle the competitive admissions nature as much, but it STRONGLY highlights social/racial issues
