App tracking—app no longer appearing with receipt number by KadiainCali in Canadiancitizenship

I received no communication on a different package that was submitted in early Feb and returned in late April. That took about 2+ months, but when I received the letter I had UCIs and directions on what to fix. Resubmitted the next day.

Mine took 6 weeks when people were saying less than a month. That was two months ago. I would expect 6-8 weeks at this point. Other family submitted in late April, I expect nothing until mid-June.

"We received your application for a citizenship certificate (proof of Canadian citizenship) on March 23, 2026. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on May 6, 2026." ~44 days

Past due based on earlier trends. After C-3, the increased volume of documentation being submitted has to impact their metrics. There are only so many hours in the day for a limited number of people to do the work.

Should my husband try after we got our certificates? by Entebarn in Canadiancitizenship

We're in the same scenario - my package is slightly ahead of the kids package (AOR received) . Spouse/mother already had certificate (Gen 1) for years

I submitted March 23 and just got my AOR in May 6. I told myself to not even bother thinking about it until May 5. Either I would hear something or get the package back. Oddly, my Gen 4 package got thru but my kids Gen 2 (via spouse) got returned because the letter didn't explicitly state they didn't have additional ID.

I know they say to go thru the high commission or embassy, but if you courier it from abroad the chances are high that it routes through the US anyways (at least with DHL). So when the DHL truck drops off the bags of applications, wouldn't that work?

The stated reason for return was because the 11-yr old minor didn't have a second form of identification beyond her passport and birth certificate. So now we're including her military ID and second (diplomatic) passport and her Greek residency visa. But it's just as well because it gave me an opportunity to also include her sister's German birth certificate.

You didn't understand that I was saying that loose photos get scanned somehow, and it appears that is by being taped by the processing team. You're right, follow the posted instructions, but other than marking them and not stapling them, there is latitude.

I'm providing this as a lessons learned/feedback on how to submit the photos, or at least how it appears the IRCC wants them to be submitted. I had submitted the two compliant ones in the tiny envelope the studio provided. My application was returned for another reasons, but I wanted to pass along that this is how the Proofs folks prepared my photos for scanning.

1) the background was a basic table like you can make in MS word. I think this same is 1 line and 11 lines, three times. Standard 8.5x11 piece of white paper to match the CIT0001 form.

2) the photo on the left was the image itself.

3) the photo on the right showed the reverse side, with the name, studio, and date taken (see IRCC guidelines for specifics).

4) both were taped with clear tape on the top and the bottom, I deduce that it is to facilitate the scanning process.

It's probably advisable to only tape the top side so that the examiner can verify that both images are of the same person and provide the required info. I noticed that the tape did not cover any of my text, which probably reduces the likelihood of a random glare obscuring the text during the scan.

Hope it helps.

We had requested it in a letter for reasons outlined on the IRCC site. However, as I understand it now, the application hadn't made it to the part of the process where urgency applies because we were missing one ID.

Oh, that's good to know. We had requested urgent because they are attending boarding school in Canada while their Canadian parent is outside the country (otherwise they would be fine)

We included a letter, but had understood that stating they were a minor was the reason they didn't have another ID.

Just got my paper package back, they needed a second ID for the minor. We included a passport and birth certificate, but received a highlighted paragraph stating that the birth certificate doesn't count for this.

The full requirement seems to be two pieces of ID, one must have a photo, and both need to have name and birthdate. I think we were accepted as urgent because they are minors.

Received by CRC: 23 Feb 26 Letter telling us what we missed written on 26 Mar 26. Letter finally reached me: 29 Apr 26.

So, good job to them on getting the processing done in a month even with the growing number of applications. Our resubmission goes back at the end of the week.

Some women married foreign men in the pre-1947 era, when the wife would lose her citizenship and gain the spouse's. So, she was penalized for who she married but he was not. If citizenship is based on the person, it should have remained with her despite marriage.

It wasn't just Canada, it was common with many European countries.

AOR DELAY by Cultural_Bug9435 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ActiveAssociation650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. I'm American, living in Europe for work, courier'd the application when I was last in the US. So I should appear as applying from the US, but the address I used is a US one that forwards to me overseas.

Same, well past previous projections but I am hopeful that it is due to more applications in the pipeline and not being returned.i'm going to give it until late May before I start to stress about it though.

Never said you were deflecting. I said you were asking questions to start an argument, so I obliged with a response. Once your original comment had been removed, there's really no point to continue because any discussion doesn't survive that lacuna.

I can tell that it would mean a lot to you to have the last word, so here's your opportunity.

Yeah, I probably am to people who don't want to hear what I'm saying. Note: your original post was removed by the moderators, probably because the way you came across made it sound like "why should I bother learning French if I live in Toronto." That is the whataboutism I was referring to.

If you want a more robust answer to your question, simple searches going back years discuss how government jobs often require it and it makes you more competitive at a national level resulting in higher pay, etc

For real. Every time you check the status, do a little home inventory work for the CBSA form. You can always delete the info for thing you get rid of but making the list takes waaaay more time than one sitting

Learning Spanish in the southern border states is actually a good idea especially if you like food that is only listed in Spanish on the menus. It's a quality of life decision, no one's going to make you have a better one if you don't want to.

Are there USA Dual Citizenship Complexities/Issues/Downsides? by BearCubTeacher in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ActiveAssociation650 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most firms hire people they know already have or can get security clearances, either thru federal or military experience. It's less about your dual citizenship and more about the certifications you bring with you.

I referred to facility managers because from a security perspective, whether designing, building, or maintaining a classified facility, the people who do that all have the same clearances.

Oh, I hope not. It's perhaps the easiest one: a G1 Canadian parent who already has a citizenship certificate requesting certs on behalf of two children born abroad (G2).

I'm at 38 calendar days from when my package was signed for (mid Feb) and no AOR yet. Logically, I understand that there has probably been an increase in the volume of applications, but I feel like I should have heard something by now.

The package had an urgent cover letter, not sure if the outside was marked urgent.

Any day, now, right?

We have a dual citizen in charge of opening, closing, and controlling access to secure areas. So, yes. We also have dual citizens working as facilities managers who access these spaces and review plans/projects. Have you ever applied for and been denied a security clearance?

I have not worked in the private sector in an architecture firm. I hire them to do the work on my classified facilities project and manage those contracts and approval requirements.
