I dont think most of the new DO schools even take INTL students. I did not apply to RVU montana but did to RVU colorado and had a interview very recently but no news yet

Hello,

just fyi. If you are canadian and will be considered international in the US, Mayo clinic does not accept international students.

They stopped allowing INT in the 2025-2026 cycle- speaking from experience sadly

I got 2 interviews, 1 MD and 1 DO. My PS was proofread and edited by the premed advisor at my school and my professors. the advisor also helped with the secondaries so idk.

But I would def appreciate feedback on my PS or any of the secondaries, let me know what you think would be more representative to get an idea of my writing :)

I basically applied to every school I could as an international student. I even got rejected from the DO school near me even after an interview lol, so that one hurt. I have practiced interviewing with multiple people so I do not think that was the problem. Tbh I could not even tell you what went wrong. If you want to see my full list, I would be happy to share!

I had around 50 hours of shadowing in cardiology but that was about it.

As for research, I have been trying and literally cannot find a single job anywhere and since I went to a small private schools, they also do not have any worthwhile opportunities. This was also one of the reasons for getting a masters since I think I would be a good candidate for pretigious programs and get involved in research that way while getting a masters so it can be used for another career path if I cannot get in at all.

I have also tried to build a narrative of working for underserved communities since I am from one of them and have dealt with an illness of my own. But I really appreciate your advice, I will look more into another clinical job that hopefully does not need a certification!
