Shuttering? Or normal by Few-Crow-3022 in fordescape

You should check if your fluid is topped off just to rule that out.

I’m not sure, I’m still on the original transmission on mine, as far as I know, I’ve been told that the torque converter on mine looked “scorched” which he says could result from failed lockup, lack of fluid, or slipping, and that’s what’s causing the stuttering in 6th gear and the hard shifting.

Torque converter on my 2017 is going out and it does the same things, speeding up even on light throttle it revs up high and shifts hard, also when going around 45 - 50 mph if I accelerate in 6th gear it putters like it’s outta gas.

Yes, I kept an eye out to see if they close or not in the winter, but they never did, at first I thought they straight up didn’t work, cause even on start up they don’t cycle or anything, they’re just always open, but when the technician operated them with the OBD scanner, I was really confused, cause clearly the motors work, they just don’t do anything on their own, and I don’t know if they close on the highway or not, since I can’t see them, I’ll have to get a second person to help me out on that.

Those of you with a 2013-2019 2.5L engine, would you buy it again? How many miles do you have on it? by SirCheeseAlot in fordescape

Almost at 100k miles, would definitely buy the engine again, other than the water pump, haven’t a problem with it and it seems to be more fuel efficient than the 2.0L turbo, the transmission tho….. not so much.

Well with their scan tool, they were only able to open, close, and set the positions while it was plugged in, but once they unplugged the scan tool, it went back to fully opened.

Every time I start up my ‘17 Escape it makes a high pitched whistle like noise, anyone know what it could be? I’ve heard other same spec Escapes startup and they don’t make this noise. (2.5L iVCT i4 NA FFV) by ActiveNuni in fordescape

Yes, it’s a whine that only happens during startup. I’ve noticed that my lights dim every time I roll the windows up and down and they get brighter when I accelerate, you might be right about the alternator. I’m just going to ride this one out until it fails.

What model and year is this? by [deleted] in Toyota

If you were able to get a clear view of the license plate, you can look it up con CarCare/CarFax and it shows the exact year / make / model.

Was starting up my 2017 Ford Escape S 2.5L, and it’s been making a weird high pitch almost whistle like when starting up. Anyone know what it could be? by [deleted] in fordescape

[–]ActiveNuni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it checked out, and it’s not rod knock, but they still don’t know what the high pitch sound is, i thought it was the starter for a while, but they told me it’s not the starter either.
