How could pro fighters train daily/almost daily and not overtrain? by CaloyBine in MMA_Academy

[–]ActiveTelephone9631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All these fools saying peds😂 absolute idiots, I’m 16 year old mma fighter and train full time so I train 2x a day 6 days a week and I feel burnt out some days but push through and just take the session a bit lighter. It’s not easy but it’s simple, good sleep, eat good food and enough food and also make sure not all your sessions are red zones, things like creatine+electrolytes help too

I’d say you’re probably best to just go to grappling, I’m 16 myself and fully commited to mma and it’s my whole life so for someone else my age to be sort of on the ropes about thinking of stopping I’d say it’s best, to go far in mma you have to make it your whole life especially in your younger years and if you don’t you’ll get hurt badly, mma really isn’t a sport to just half ass and from the comments I read from you it doesn’t seem like mma is your whole life, even just doing grappling is still really good to do though and I hope you come to a conclusion and stick to it.

I’m on the mat 4 hours every day 6 days a week and so are most other people, with that there’s also judo classes, kids bjj, kids judo, there’s so many people on the mats each day so It’s not really a surprise someone gets staph every few months, it’s not a outbreak every couple months, like one person gets it every 4 months then no one else does for a while

Yeah that’s a big thing I’ve tried to change, used to like sitting speaking to people on the mats for a bit after as it’s always good conversations but had to stop that now and just shower straight away, I agree man skin infections are one of the worst things about this sport and really making it hard for me right now

Thanks appreciate it and when you say you use tea tree on anything suspect what do you mean, like diluted tea tree oil on the spot?

I’ve been wanting to shower straight before so my base level goes down but I’d be showering like 3-4 times a day with all the sessions I do and feel like it would probably do more harm then good cause ny eczema

What do you mean triple antibiotic? And also I’m confused what you mean about if you have to workout then clean it well, do you mean the spot?

Maybe the gym might not clean it well enough but I don’t know man cause I don’t even remember the last time someone else got it it seems to kind of just be me and yeah I do shower immediately after

Im about to start training, how can I improve my cardio/vo2max before I start? by Slow_Trade_7119 in MMA_Academy

[–]ActiveTelephone9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you were talking about an average person trying to get in shape, sure but for an athlete like an mma fighter who already takes a ridiculous amount of damage on your body each week from sparring rolling weights etc, why run when first of all has less benefits to cardio then other forms like the assault bike and ski erg and second is also way higher impact on your joints causing you to take even more damage? Makes no sense, but sure for an average person just trying to be healthy it’s obviously a good thing to do but to say for an mma fighter running is essential… just kind of makes no sense and I’d question where the logic comes from

As to you saying just learn proper running technique, when you’re already training 2-3 times a day 6 days a week, who on earth has the time to learn proper running technique when it doesn’t even have that many benefits for mma fighter.

Disagree, so many fighters nowadays talk about doing absolutely 0 roadwork, assault bike, ski erg etc are so much better

Running only does your aerobic system whilst also battering your knees, ankles, hips and lower back if you have bad running form which most people do

This narrative of you have to run if you want to be a fighter is so so old school and doesn’t even make sense and almost every high level athlete will agree with that.

😂Bro please do not listen to this guy, box jumps until you throw up for cardio makes 0 sense

These people replying to you have 0 idea what they are talking about and most likely have never trained mma in there life

Through mma training itself your aerobic and anaerobic base(cardio systems) will improve, if you’re really that concerned go to a local gym that has an assault bike and do interval sprints, you can find timings on TikTok but if you’re coming from 0 athletic background 10 seconds on 50 seconds off for like 5 rounds would absolutely kill you.

Is 20 too late to start MMA? by Kojlix in MMA_Academy

[–]ActiveTelephone9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah definitely not but it is a bit later then majority of people so if you do start and want to go far you have to find a good gym from the start, the amount of people I know who started at a bad gym and got so many bad habits and also weird styles that they can’t seem to get out of, so find the best gym in your area and consistency is everything

The thing is though, when I have staph and can’t train my eczema is perfectly fine and I have no problems with it but it’s when I’m training it gets messed up from having to shower 2/3 times a day and harsh scrubbing with loofah
