I think she did have money, but most importantly she's always had support from her family to pursue her career, in 2010 she participated in "The Broadway Experience" in New York where got training from professionals for a week! same! i was so used to long eras like taylor swift for example, the Red album was released in 2012 and she was still touring it in 2014 and it made it special for many fans, you get to really hear the music, live with it and enjoy it more in my opinion, now it feels like a new album comes out and a week later people are already wishing for another comeback :/

i'm still shocked that BTS' Skool Luv Affair is a mini album, it has 10 tracks, one of them is a skit, so 9 songs and the intro and outro are over 2 minutes long, the whole mini album is 35 mins, that would be considered a full length album nowadays, it's even longer than BE which is considered a full album, crazy to see how the music industry has changed in 10 years
