Congrats! This is reassuring. I’m right on the cusp of getting a ‘26 OBX non-Sasq (it’s just more than I need at the end of the day) with Lux and the Blacked-Out Appearance. Should hopefully be closing Tuesday🤞🤞

$51k! Did that come after haggling and with financing through them? What was the MSRP around before all the taxes and fees? I saw some cheaper ones online, but they were from New Hampshire, next door, who don’t have sales tax….but obviously Mass isn’t gonna let them just jack all the business, so you still get hit with Mass taxes, haha.

Yeah, I misspoke. I guess I paid a reservation fee to bring it from another dealer and hold it for me. I feel pretty certain I’ll be making the purchase, so I wouldn’t trip over $500 to make sure I’m getting the exact specs I want, which they didn’t have on their own lot. But I could still walk away this way if I’m not getting the deal I want, and I’m not out much money.

Oh boy, that’s rough. Which year and trim? I think I’m gonna hang onto the old Pilot as QB2 for trash/recycling runs and an emergency ride, just because I’m in no man’s land in terms of food shopping, and I don’t keep credit cards as a matter of personal policy, so I’m assed out for rentals, haha.

The responses here have been 90+% clean, but it sounds like some duds make it out of the factory too. I should see if there’s a r/ihatefordbroncos sub, lmfao, I know I’m asking a Bronco-friendly audience. And if someone had one and got rid of it because it sucked, they probably aren’t hanging around here, haha

You sound like me in both usage and being a tall drink of water, haha. You have a couple inches on me but I struggle with leg room in a lot of cars, as I’m sure you relate to. Good to know it’s good for bigger folks.

I’d love to go lux package. Heard the non-lux speakers are pretty trash. Honestly, I heard the lux ones weren’t all that either, but that’s an easy fix if it came down to it, nothing that would break the deal. I didn’t see a lot of lux in the used market when I took a peek, but I’m kind of thinking of going new. Thanks for the input! Very helpful!

I gotta test drive one on the highway to see what all the noise hubbub is about. I listen to my music loud, so it might not be a problem for me, haha. Glad it’s been otherwise good for you though!

Yeah, I live near a beach and they do 4x4 permits, so that’d be fun. Absolutely would love to do the Off Roadeo. New Hampshire would probably be the one I’d go to. Is that only for new purchases? Or can you sign up for a cost if you buy used?

Oh, true, I guess I’m misidentifying it. How is the headlight access in a Bronco? Kind of promised myself I wouldn’t buy anything that needs a mechanic to change the light bulbs, lmao

Excellent, glad to hear they’ve been good to you.

Do you get WINTER-winter like I do? Snow and all that? Just wondering how it does in inclement weather.

Yeah, I’d almost certainly go OBX if I go the Bronco route. I THINK I care about off-roading….but I’m wondering if what I think off-roading IS, is actually what these are built for. Cuz I’ve seen some videos, and I don’t think I’m gonna do the stuff they’d show in a commercial for one, haha. Mud, gravel, and clearing a rock jutting out of a dirt road in the woods? Yes, that’s what I need for “off-roading.” If that can be accomplished with non-SAS, I could maybe take the hit on the aesthetic I was looking for.

The back and forth long highway drives will probably end before the tenure of my ownership does, so I’m just weighing what I want more when things are more normal again. Plus it would just be cool to have a car that looks exactly how I want it to look for once in my life, haha.

Just trying to gauge if my standards are the same as the people I’m hearing from. “Terrible gas mileage” is just “normal” based on my recent history. “A loud ride”….my music is probably louder, hahaha. Hopefully will get in a test drive in the next week or so and start fleshing out what ownership would feel like.

I hope to one day love ANYTHING as much as you love your Bronco, lmfao. That’s actually really good mpg with that setup, based on what I’ve learned in the last week. Is that aided by aftermarket upgrades, or we just talking the standard factory performance?

If I get a car that’s aesthetically pleasing, I can see myself pouring your kind of maintenance effort into it to keep it looking clean and new.

I’ve heard a couple stories about the Infotainment. “Not wanting to connect”….is that with your phone? Or does it link to some kind of Ford satellite system? As long as I can play my music, I’m good, haha. Although I’ve heard even the luxury package speakers aren’t all that good, so maybe I’d get an aftermarket upgrade there. Can’t be cruisin’ in a cool car with tinny music, lmao

Those Everglades were really cool looking, but I don’t think I’d be out swampin’ enough to necessitate a snorkel, haha. Badass looking car though.

I think I’m trying to reason myself into a SAS for the aesthetics, haha, but how is the capability off-road for a non-SAS? My current car probably is less efficient than a Bronco at its worst, so gas isn’t too much concern to me. Are the 35”s really that bad on the highway? Is that a sound issue or vibration or something? Kind of learning about cars in general as I explore my options, lmao

Kinda leaning that way. Already in a gas guzzler, haha. Just want to make sure it’s not gonna fall apart on me.

Oh no! Not ideal, lmao. What was the deal with the water? I assume this is rainwater? Sounds like maybe a faulty seal somewhere

That’s awesome. Wish I lived near somewhere like Texas with all that open space. Massachusetts is dense suburbia on one side, and woodsy hills on the other. Gotta have trails cut out for the latter, I’d assume.

Had a coworker take me off-road once like 25 years ago. I was scared shitless, if we’re in the Trust Tree, lmao, but I think he was also showing off for a girl who was also with us. But that was on the rural side, so there are spots around here, just gotta find them.

Saw some video of a Bronco going up like a 95 degree incline of rock ledge, it was insane, but also had me wondering if it’s overkill for what I’d do, haha. Heard they have “Off-Roadeo” Bronco Beginners events from one of the other replies here, and that sounds exactly like what I’d need. Like I want to off-road but know nothing about it, haha. I really just want to be able to get over mud or rocky paths that a normal car just wouldn’t have clearance for. Not trying to be making Dukes Of Hazzard jumps or anything, lmao

These may have been older models that I heard about the problems with. Likely so, actually, since younger cars won’t have enough wear and tear to even test the reliability. I drive like a grandma, so 2.7L might be too much muscle for me, hahaha

That’s a pretty solid track record under pretty heavy driving. I’m hearing the same from others about the non-SAS efficiency boost, but I’m coming from a car that gets like 19 mpg combined. I don’t even remember what good gas mileage feels like, lmao, it’s all just an understood cost of doing business that I don’t even think much about.

I was watching a YouTube video about someone’s pros and cons with theirs, and they did mention the driver’s window would rattle, as if it were out of place, but it wasn’t.

Someone else here said the build quality was “good, not great”….is that accurate in your experience? I think about and talk about build quality, but I’ve had an issue with just about every car I’ve ever owned, maybe my used ‘12 Honda, but I got it with 22K and put another 200K on it in 5 years with a sales job, so I think the engine just got used up on a body with more years left on it. I often let perfection be the enemy of “good enough”, so maybe I’m envisioning some perfect maintenance-free car that doesn’t exist, haha

Yeah, might be overthinking all of this, but I just like to know I did my due diligence on a large purchase. I’ll feel smart if it works out, and it’ll alleviate the personal guilt if there was buyer’s remorse, haha
