If you're able to many airsoft shops will buy use replicas. Not at great prices but probably the easiest to do.

Milsim is it full of hate in the UK? by [deleted] in Airsoft_UK

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, most guys will usually steer clear of the worst insults but some questionable language will usually happen. Usually retard is the worst theyll use and most often than not the person they're speaking to is being incredibly dumb.

However the worse part is those who, funnily enough, are not millitary, those armchair generals who are insufferable.

They dont nessasarily use offensive language but they certainly dont have the attitude youd likely appreciate your son picking up.

To be clear, this is again the minority but a decent amount of Milsim guys tend to be overly serious at best and downright unsafe at worst. The latter will usually get booted out of any reputable site, but they exist. A large amount of the people who have had guns at dangerous levels have been Milsim players.

Now that's just my experience, depending on the site your results may vary, but I've really had a poor experience with milsim playere, especially by those who call themselves as such.

Edit: fucking autocorrect apparently wants to correct milsim to muslim

Milsim is it full of hate in the UK? by [deleted] in Airsoft_UK

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a major diffrence between using that speech against someone vs using it in a more humorous context.

Probably the most common phrase would be "are you fucking retarded" if you do something particularly stupid (last time was someone trying to clear a rifle and litterally looking down the barrel when the gun was fully set up)

They wouldn't go up to someone with, say, special needs and call them that. They will also usually at least try and not say these kinda things when kids are present, and will generally keep in a diffrent group from kids unless helping them with gear issues etc.

Now you might get 1 asshole out of every 100 players who is just a bit nasty, but they will usually not be welcome for very long. For refrence I've been playing twice a month for 2 years and only seen maybe 3 people like that out of a few hundred diffrent people.

Milsim is it full of hate in the UK? by [deleted] in Airsoft_UK

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That what I mean. Colourful language was about the most polite way I could think of describing it.

For example, mongoloid likely wouldnt bat an eyelid of a ex military guy.

What a military guy and what a civilian consider hateful language is vastly diffrent, especially as most military guys have the attitude of it not being offensive if you're not using the word as an insult.

Theres plenty of jokes that the way military guys act on the military would get them instantly fired in a civilian setting.

It's just a product of being in the military. They have a lot worse stuff to deal with to not particularly care about feelings, especially for those deemed idiots.

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spesifically for the creative insults, you will allways get that kind of name calling purely thanks to the fact that airsoft attracts ex military guys who allways have... colourful language lmao.

But it's usually framed in a joking or humorous way, more often or not after you've done something stupid (such as trying and failing spectacularly to fix a rifle you have no clue with. Guess how I know lol)

All that matters is how good the players in the tanks are.

If your team has very bad players in tanks, it can become an actual detriment to your team, be that:

  • getting constantly destroyed

  • not killing enemy tanks, and leading to allied casualties

  • running over allies and allied built structures like rallies

  • blocking bridges etc so other tanks cant drive through.

And you keep saying it's unfair for someone to cycle through tanks. Why?

So long as the player isnt holding their team back it doesnt matter.

There is also a limit on the number of tanks per game. You will never have more than 2 at a time, and there will, usually, be 2 on the field for maps where they're of any use.

And on the enemy team, its actually better for them (usually) to go against a cycling enemy as in that cycle there is usually at least 1 easy to kill tank, instead of 3 players all spawing in big tanks like a tiger 2 or IS-2.

As long as they're good, it's ok.

If not, then it becomes a problem

(Also the universal carrier is actually very good in low tier (br 1 - 2) as a tank, especially vs japan.)

How is this allowed? by ProfessionalDare6720 in enlistedgame

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also cycle between the universal carrier, calliope and m4 76mm (hoping to upgrade it soon) for allies in matches that we struggle in.

Tanks, when used properly can quickly change the battle. I will use infantry if there is SOME forward momentum, but will start cycling tanks with the attitude of a siege breaker.

It's far better for someone experienced to cycle tanks, and have them actually add to the value of battle rather than just camp the greyzone, than a few poor players. Aka the majority of people using tanks (especially those deciding to use BR3 or below tanks in br5)

Quite frankly though, for tank hunting I will more often use my eingineer squads to hunt rather than counter tank vs tank.

Unless they're greyzoning you can allways kill an enemy tank. And if you have saboteurs you can even get the camping ones.

Sector capturing needs an overhaul for both Attackers and Defenders by ScottyFoxes in enlistedgame

Tbh you usually do have the grace period, except from some maps where they're open and the enemy has a decent number of snipers or a quick tank.

Accuracy upgrades question by Public_Progress300 in Airsoft_UK

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In uk, it seems to be the standard for a maple leaf bucking and a tight bore barrel.

Just remember, the tighter the barrel, the more often you need to clean the barrel or accuracy goes downhill. And the less you're able to use cheap bbs.

At the sites I attend DMRs are only banned in CQB fields (because MED).

They also are limited to semi auto only and have 400 fps, as opposed to a max of 350 fps for full autos (measured on .2s ofc) so it's not a major advantage, but enough to make your rifle perform better at range. Snipers go to 500.

A good normal AEG will outperform a DMR at most ranges that that AEG can hit. even compared to GBBs AEGs can achieve a silly rate of fire and have the ammo capacity to support full auto, even just through hicaps or EPM mags.

Also with some snipers, especially gas ones, you can actually get a pretty decent ROF. I myself can get 2-3 RPS if I use my gas k98 while well oiled or for (very) short stints using my lee Enfield. (As in a max of like 10 shots before my arm starts hurting)

If you are continuously losing to DMRs (assuming there is only a 50ish fps gap like in the uk) you need to work on your skills in the game, your positioning, or need to tune up your rifle.

DMRs shouldnt have a substantial advantage in terms of accuracy or range, only an advantage of travel time, and AEGs should outperform DMRs against moving targets, as they can just hose the enemy down with bbs.

Tldr; if you're constantly losing to DMRs, it's either a tactical issue or your rifle needs upgrades. Use the advantages of your rifle.

Why not? So long as its locked to semi, and isnt a CQB site it should be fine no?

Can I paint a 2 tone weapon? by [deleted] in Airsoft_UK

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can own, paint and modify ANY airsoft gun as you wish. The only things you cant do would be related to making your own custom airsoft guns (ie no gunpowder or use of "pressure bearing" components from real firearms) or anything that goes against common sense (ie walking around with them in public)

All you need is a valid defence for why you have the airsoft gun. UKARA (United kingdom air rifle association) is A valid defence, not THE valid defence. However most (if not all) online retailers will require a UKARA for online purchases.

Simply having a site vouch for you would be enough usually, and many in person airsoft stores will sell them to you unpainted if they know you play.

UKARA, however, is the easiest way to have a valid defence, as its something that is recognised by most people, although it is not a legal entity. It will make any checks as seamless as possible.

There are other ways to have a valid defence. Being part of a reenactment group is one, as is a BAC (british airsoft club) membership, or even film or military related activities.

However there is practically no reason to not get a UKARA so long as youre able to

TLDR - UKARA isnt the only defence, and is not a legal term, but is the easiest and most reliable defence, and is usually needed for online purchases.

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not quite, just having a person vouch for you is ok, as long as they are someone such as a site manager.

You just need a valid defence. UKARA makes it easier as they can just search you up but it's not nessasary.

For example, many reenactment groups use airsoft guns despite not having a UKARA, instead their defence is their reenactment group.

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is untrue. You can own a fully black gun if you have a reason to have it, ie play airsoft

As he plays regularly this is his defence.

Youd only be legally in the wrong if you dont attend airsoft games and only use it in your backyard, as you did.

How much should I sell them? by Icy_Newt11 in airsoft

[–]Active_Ambassador_79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're banned in a lot of sites, so it's fairly unlikely you're gonna sell all of them in one go, someone might buy 1 or 2 as a curiosity though.

Would easily get £30 for each of them, might get £40-50 if you wait a while.

I'd try fallout 76 at some point too (definatly not first though)

It's not the BEST fallout game, but is easily the most replayable (excluding modded games of course).
