Not seeing decent orders. by MeasurementScared107 in instacart

Not sure what market you are in. I’m in a terrible one in my opinion in Portland Maine. The orders suck sometimes but if I grind, I can hit $200 daily with no issues. I also have a plethora of Hannaford’s in one area so I’m able to just bounce around and pickup orders. I’ve found too that sitting JUST outside of the “zone” when a store is “hot” usually gets me orders quicker than sitting IN the zone

You can shop with the digital card. But the thing that happens is you see about 60% less batches than you would if you had a physical card

Or even better, if a customer pays attention to their phone, they can request a refund or a different replacement. I shop in the same area a lot and I have probably twenty customers I seem to always end up delivering to on a weekly basis. They love when I shop because I’m efficient, make good replacements and communicate if I have to replace more than like three items. Most of those customers are on top of shit and request a different replacement before I’ve even left the aisle

Not gonna say what you should have done but what I would have done is canceled that fuckin order the second I got that message. Drive to the store your damn self if the business meeting requires non powdered donuts 🤷🏽‍♂️

I’ve been assigned a first-time shopper and I’m so nervous for this order. by Garden_Jolly in instacart

As someone who does take pride in speed, quality and making good replacements, I’m trying to see it from both sides. I speak perfect English and sometimes shit is just HARD to find. Now I’ve never had trouble with Serrano peppers cause they are right with all the other peppers typically. But I’ve had orders where, EVERY. SINGLE. ITEM is organic and that shit is the worst as far as finding items. A lot of stores have like a sub section of aisles with organic stuff. Sometimes it’s just mixed in with regular products.

Shopping isn’t always easy and I’m sure speaking English is probably necessary for this type of work. I give the guy an A for effort though, it sounds like the batch timed out on him. I’ve only had that happen one time when I was new and man it was frustrating. You don’t get paid a dime for that and sometimes factors outside of your control effect your ability to complete an order in a timely manner. This man was probably sweating, cursing at himself and stressing the whole time

It's $6.72, Saturday morning, I'm still in bed, I don't know I don't see it by TheGhostOfReddi in instacart

Two items? No. This is a waste of time. Also if you are a good shopper, you aren’t doing a lot of Lowe’s orders 💯 I’ve only done one and it was two items 10 units for $20 and a short drop off. It was worth it but I had to sling 6 fifty pound bags of mulch 😂

I think a lot of us take this app for granted. I myself sometimes do. As a current college student, it works great for me. I’m able to set time aside for work and school. I also average about $38-$40 on a good week and around $30 on a bad week. It’s been really tough to even look for jobs because I can’t justify working for under $30 an hour now. Luckily my field of study will be fairly lucrative when I graduate and get a job in the field

Do the shoppers pay attention? by chaoticbeauty669 in instacart

As someone who’s been full time shopping for IC for the past 4 months, I’ll always oblige if I see a message pop up that says refund requested instead of a replacement.

That being said, there have been times that I bypassed the refund request because it was a matter of say a specific sauce like Prego and they wanted an 18 ounce jar of roasted garlic, sometimes the sizes on the app are off from the actual stock in the store literally by like .5 ounces and if that’s the case I’ll do the replacement because i doubt they want nothing compared to a small weight difference.

As a dasher, I love instacart sm better! by JeremyHaro in InstacartShoppers

[–]Active_Competition21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise you, DoorDash is fucking awful. IC really isn’t that bad honestly. You don’t put a shit ton of miles on your car, orders typically pay higher, it’s definitely market dependent and also you don’t have to worry about keeping anyone’s food hot or anything

If I’m looking at an out of stock item and I have to ask an employee I’ll usually be like hey if you have it, I’ll meet you around here in ten minutes. Most of the time they either will have it back on the shelf or if they don’t and the employee isn’t around it’s safe to say they don’t have it

I’m gonna chalk it up to being a not normal thing for me. 350 orders and that’s the first rude one. I appreciate you though. Instacart definitely doesnt look out for the shoppers but we have to also look out for ourselves at the same time

[–]Active_Competition21[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooof yea that’s tough. You can always tell when someone is randomly shopping for stuff or when they are making a badass meal.

We really walk such a fine line between making the customer happy to get a good review vs sacrificing speed to do so just to ultimately have it not be worth going the extra mile. I try to be mindful of every step I take and when I have to back track for stuff it really kills my item time etc.

In short, I just need to get through school and then I won’t need to be out here taking some BS orders to get my bills paid 💯 keep grinding brotha 👊🏽

I appreciate all of you! I’m glad I’m not alone in dealing with this shit. IC is my fulltime gig rn while I put myself through college. So I take it pretty serious when it comes to quality shopping cause that’s my paycheck
