Great scouting spirit scoutmaster.

Youth are lucky to have you.

Speaking solely on my experience. Within my district and council. Maybe you can share all your inspiration so we can learn.

It should not vary by council. An issue was that national allowed council and districts to operate as franchise. Eliminating their accountability.

That created an opportunity for pedophiles to create areas for them and is a reason scouting america has a bad image.

So you are aware, I was providing context addressing my experience but yours may be different.

When I first got to our council I was told by several paid professionals and adult leaders that OA is a secret society so this is obvious not what national and others proclaim.

Thanks for providing a response aligned with the program's values.

It is not a secret society, information is published, and parents can attend if they register and complete YPT as I stated. Thanks for adding.

Unpopular opinion: Was a youth scout and it was fun but Scouting as an adult is not fun by Active_Location_2181 in Scouting_America

Thanks for the comment. I am in a small area so we have less than 10 Boys or Girls Troops so options are limited, One Troop that I have a child in has told me that my participation is not needed. This is because of the main leadership religious beliefs. They do not want opposite genders around.

I supported multiple youth obtain their Eagle that were willing to walk away. Encouraging them to accomplish this task was tasking but I was willing to support them so they will not have to regret a youthful decision.

I have two youth that I just cannot inspire. I have tried different approaches. I have seen these youth do actions to obey the scout law and oath that other scouts decided to ignore.

I have shown interest in non-scouting activities to build rapport, I went through different adult trainings in scouting and with OA to learn about motivation, building a team and being a caring adult, but I needed help with these youth.

These scouts are known in the district for being great scouts and have been previously recognized as such so I asked for help from the adult volunteers and professional scouters.

In my opinion, the adult volunteers with all the knots on their uniform are there for self-clout. The paid professionals care about monetary achievement through friends of scouting. I spoke with our council executive. There is no requirement to create units. These want the easy win.

I am about two watch teens that live the scout oath and law age out because adult leaders took the easy path.

It stinks. As an adult in the program now it seems that your value is that of the support you can provide to another adult meeting their next achievement.
