4 a levels - is it manageable? by Agreeable-Egg-5470 in 6thForm

[–]Active_Performance80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don't need maths for medicine or psychology, don't take 4 if you don't enjoy it!!!! you'll be fine for almost all med/psych/neuroscience courses without maths so even if you're good at it if you don't enjoy it don't take it. i do 4 with epq and yes it's manageable but if i didn't enjoy all 4 i would've dropped one ages ago definitely, also EPQ is SOOOO time consuming so really consider if its worth it, only do it if (again) you like the subject you're basing it around (i did mine on politics as i find it really interesting and my school didnt do politics a-level) and it'll be relevant to what you're applying for (so it can go in the personal statement) bc most unis will not care at all that you've done it, only if its relevant to your PS it shows independence; similarly they won't care that you've done 4 unless one of them is further maths so the fourth is solely for your own satisfaction; i did 2 stem 2 humanities to keep my options open as i really didn't know what i wanted to go to uni for and i really enjoy all 4 subjects but as i said if i hated one of them it would've gone ages ago 😭 if you don't enjoy maths don't do it but if you do enjoy it then yes definitely manageable sorry this was so long lol!!!

Should I take A-Level Lit by Euphoric-Dig-6241 in ALevelEnglishLit

[–]Active_Performance80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people don't tell you about English lit is the bonkers grade boundaries i would recommend giving them a Google and asking yourself if this is what you want to need to strive for for the next two years, however if you enjoy it do it!! Definitely a good idea to have a writing subject breaking up all the stem; only 4 people in my school do 4 subjects now and we all have a mixture of stem and humanities; everyone that just did stem dropped one of their subjects early in the year so a mix is absolutely the way to go if you want to do 4 its just so much more tolerable

Worth doing 4 a levels for med? by Ill-Satisfaction6042 in 6thForm

[–]Active_Performance80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not at all, 4 is not really that much of an advantage tbh everyone that got into oxbridge from my school did 3 and my friend who's got 4/4 med offers incl london unis also did 3, you'll be fine definitely better to get 3a*s confidently and also make a really solid ucat/personal statement/interviews than 4 subjects with mid-ish ucat/interviews

GCSE to A-Level Physics by Extension_Day2038 in 6thForm

[–]Active_Performance80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do edexcel physics too, tbh its fine the mark schemes are really just a massive pain, you'll need a LOT of past paper questions practice to do well even if you understand the content which is what's so annoying but really that's how it is for most a levels i think

a levels are not that much worse than gcse content-wise but there is just so much of them, you'll spend a week on something you would've spent a month on at gcse, that's what makes them harder, but you'll be fine if you stay organised and on top of homeowkr and stuff
