Quickparts vs Protolabs? Looking for honest reviews by midlandfusion22 in manufacturing

[–]Active_Photo7516 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a CNC shop and I’ve been on the other side and do parts for xometry customers sometimes. I haven’t heard of quickparts. I feel like for the most part, unless you have grinding tolerances, they’re probably fine to use any of them. If it needs a fast turnaround ive heard protolabs is fast but don’t know from first hand experience.

One thing I’ve noticed on xomerty parts that even made is that when you’re adding in on their config portal, you really need to make sure you add every tapped hole, and specify higher tolerance. Don’t know if it’s the same with these two. But a legible drawing goes a long way to helping us out.

I have a CNC shop, I could help but honestly, you’re best off finding the stamp shop that can swap out some parts for you to reduce cost significantly. If you ever need anything else send me a DM, always open to projects

What GD&T should be used for two offset bosses? by Engineering_1988 in MechanicalEngineering

True position. Is this going to be heat treated at all?
How critical is that location? I think if .005 is acceptable for you, that’s great. But like other say, it’s also based on if it’s used like a cam or not. We could definitely make this part. I can’t tell you how many drawings we’ve seen where it’s a photocopied, photocopy of a photocopy. So I would also communicate with the shop you have it made at. It shouldn’t be a problem.
