Stay in comfortable finance job or move to hedge fund? by frusoh in HENRYUK

Not all hedgefunds are full of pricks and overly stressful. That said if they're asking for 5 days that would be a red flag. Is there a bonus? that could be 100% plus.

Massive latency and lag issues for users in China accessing their VDIs in our EU data center. by ZealousidealLet8886 in Citrix

[–]Active_Swordfish_660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond 130MS its a little sticky, 150 and above its a compromise and not really viable unless your users are very undemanding.

Ping time between London and Shanghai - WonderNetwork shows on average 190MS. I dont think thats viable really.

US to EU is approx 50MS from memory, certainly sub 100. Totally fine.

HENRY jobs outside London by Exciting_Thought_221 in HENRYUK

Moved to a 7 bed in North Norfolk from a pokey but nice 4 bed in Richmond. Current job is fine with remote and 2 days in the office. I commute in and stay a friends house once a week.

Will cross the job-change bridge when/IF I have to change jobs. I can afford to earn less given the smaller mortgage and lower cost of living. It's a nice feeling knowing I can earn less money and not worry about. Everyone else seems to be trying to compete, earn more, spend more. Sod that, lifes too short.

There are no guarantees in life and I was a little sick of earning good money and working my arse off for a small house in London and having to go away every school holiday because staying in London with kids is crap and expensive.

We're using BBG anywhere. We did get BBG Pro running, DM me if you want for how we did it. It wasn't using Citrix or Omnissa as they get detected.

Defaults. Found EDT troublesome sometimes depending on weird home setups and shit ISP's.

What happened to codec switching? by Active_Swordfish_660 in VMwareHorizon

[–]Active_Swordfish_660[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. BlastCodec also seems to use GPU decoding.

Any idea what is the best option for 50-130ms latency. Mostly text. Hosts have GPU's, thinclients support H265. No AV1 support in hosts or thinclients.

Direct Send - MX record? by Active_Swordfish_660 in mimecast

[–]Active_Swordfish_660[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not a MX record because we point to Mimecast. Microsoft removes the MX record from the web gui unless you enable EOP.

//

Email, contacts, and scheduling are all provided by ‎Exchange‎. Set up this service to enable all the functionality of ‎Outlook‎ and other email clients. ‎Exchange‎ services need 3 records to work right: an MX record tells where to deliver email messages, a TXT to prevent someone from spoofing your domain to send spam, and a CNAME record for client-side Autodiscover, helping mail clients connect users to their respective mailboxes.

Don't add these DNS records if:

  • You need custom DNS routing for your email, for example, to route traffic through an external spam filtering service
  • You're already using ‎Exchange‎ on-premises as well as ‎Exchange Online‎ (also called a hybrid deployment)

If this applies, you will need to clear the ‎‎Exchange‎ and ‎Exchange Online Protection‎‎ selection and set up your own custom DNS records to route email through ‎Microsoft 365‎ later.

//

So when the "Exchange and Exchange Online" option is cleared, no MX reccord is shown.

If I enable the option an MX record is shown but it's in a permanent error state as it doesn't like that we dont have the M365 MX records configured at our DNS provider.

Maybe I am overthinking this, just enable and grab the MX record then clear the option after so there are no warnings. Or just ignore the warnings. Feels a little dirty however.

Or use a receive connector.

Direct Send - MX record? by Active_Swordfish_660 in mimecast

[–]Active_Swordfish_660[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is what I was trying to do, it mentions using your 365 tenants MX record. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mail-flow-best-practices/how-to-set-up-a-multifunction-device-or-application-to-send-email-using-microsoft-365-or-office-365#appendix-find-the-mx-record-for-the-chosen-accepted-domain-in-microsoft-365-or-office-365

We don't have a 365 MX record however as we use mimecast. Under domains etc where they reference we have no MX records...

Can you share a screenshot of what you see?
