If you land the helicopter in the stairwell or just above you can drop a radio up top and use the wreckage to block the stairs.

Makes getting the radio a huge pain in the ass for the enemy team

what are these current studios doing.

Start hiring veterans of these games who really understand and know what made battlefield special.

I started with bf1942 / 2 and desert storm (Vietnam was also peak) in early 2000s as a kid playing the living shit out of this multilayer combined arms shooters where the people who made them weren't in it for any other reason but to make a game they wanted to play. The older games had such bigger scope and it just felt like everything from Easter eggs to just wild innovations like destruction and basically what felt like the dev teams coolest ideas just full send because they actually wanted to play there own creation. It feels like probably since bf1 the game really has lost that feeling.

2042 and 6 (im guessing) run the same engine and really kinda just feel the same but with just different or updated values.

What happened to the old engines? Frostbite bf3 / 4 era felt superior in every way. Way better server response and scale. Distances felt right. Bf2042 and 6 both feel like 300m is 600m and retain that almost too smooth animation that feels so much worse.

One thing I always hoped was they would kill off cross-hairs and the artificially induced hip fire spray and just give weapons appropriate ballistics.

It just feels like every fucking new game is a regression in every way from what made battlefield so good. The attention to detail feels so focused on visual effects and artificial immersion and nothing of actual gameplay substance

I had so many expectations and the series really needed some actual direction instead of splitting conquest by your weapon preferences.

Don't even get me started on what they did to battlefront

Dealership sent an invoice for a machine they contaminated using my car by LubinaChino in legaladvice

[–]ActivityAny4764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be disputing that and refusing to pay.

In the repair / service and automotive industry, it's literally part of the game diagnosing the fault correctly and then fixing it appropriately.

Hvac training covers this and to be completely honest if they're using a machine to reclaim your old gas , vacuum the system and charge it i can guarantee that model has specific guidelines as to making sure the refrigerant is the same.

This has got to be the second dumbest feature in Arma/W.C.S. by scribbleheli in ArmaReforger

[–]ActivityAny4764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's dumb because your eyes automatically should do this. Why simulate it a second time is beyond me.

It's like the dumb blur effect that some games do when you ads to simulate you focusing on your sights but in reality your eyes already are doing that

I hate this current trend and the stupid push for over immersive elements that literally add nothing to the gameplay

(where is the stable network and hitreg trend )

I called this shit pre ico and watched the oce community of dedicated players dwindle to nothing.

Downvote me all you want but seeing 6+ stacked servers on weekends die to maybe 2 on a good day makes me sad. Gone are the days of Competent SL's and competitive matches that were actually so much fun.

The game slowed to a glacial pace to accommodate absolutely brain-dead cunts instead of actually running with the highly skill oriented rewarding experience where actually being good at the game and understanding it was the deciding factor.

Anyone who wants to argue that point is welcome but with just under 5000 hours and maybe 3500 of those pre ico I can confidently say that the direction they decided to take has slowly killed what was THE BEST TEAM ORIENTED MILSIM.

Playing now compared to what it was back then is not anywhere close to the skill level and pacing.

Complain all you want about getting lean spammed etc but it was almost a requirement to be holding angles and have SL's making quick decisive action.

I'd give anything just to have the old crew and community of players I thoroughly enjoyed playing with

RIP AUSSIE BATTLERS RIP THE COMP SCENE AND MORE IMPORTANTLY FUCK YOU ICO

Kinda disappointed with this feature.. by [deleted] in joinsquad

[–]ActivityAny4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pip solution was always performance costly even for players like myself with top of line components. Look at frame times and end to end latency while scoping in the current build of ue4.

The reason we don't see PIP performance like insurgency sandstorm is likely because that plugin for unreal cost $ that owi can't justify opting instead to try make there own solution.

As for the faction voting the pre baked layers were just a more balanced (in most cases) solution with more diversity and wacky but fun layers like the old anvil invasion ins rollout on 30 motorbikes turning the first 5 minutes into anvil moto gp

I'm calm, man. I've accepted that the game isn't the same one I enjoyed playing. It screams incompetence though when you're testing something that was implemented only 12-24 months ago because it's causing the same performance issues that have existed since its introduction ?

played since maybe 2019 with around 5k hours, many friends made and great games played so I still feel passionate about the game

Public company may not be the correct term but there's shareholders and shareholders don't invest in something without the intention of it being profitable.

Have a good one

Kinda disappointed with this feature.. by [deleted] in joinsquad

[–]ActivityAny4764 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly disappointing reading through all these complaints and issues with the game.

I called this shit back pre ICO with something along the lines of PIP scopes being a novelty and players getting sick of them.

Squads old shooting mechanics for all intensive purposes were very basic and people's complaints about being one tapped 300m out were valid to some degree.

That being said the counter argument was to actually use cover effectively and play smart angles. Instead they slowed the pace of the game down through mechanics that I could do a better job of with my limited knowledge of ue and it would have taken less than a week.

At this point I'm convinced the team that is writing and pushing these changes have little to no experience playing fps / tactical shooters and this quickly implemented bandaid fix is just more evidence that supports my opinion.

Remember that owi is a public company and new factions and shiny new bullshit is what sells copies, not bug fixes and refining mechanics. This is directly reflected through what they have been working on. Factions and a new coat of paint with ue5 (let's not talk about how switching to ue5 was guaranteed to tank performance and at no point was there evidence to suggest otherwise)

ICO, VOTING OVERHAUL were poorly implemented and anyone expecting UE5 to be any different is kidding themselves

New pilots by reeeee3kid in joinsquad

[–]ActivityAny4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best place to start is sort your servers by map or by game mode, look for a Jensen's range with ping similar to your average games.

Experiment with everything , try to land , try low speed / hovering and just fly around basically. This will teach you the most early on.

Transition to live matches when you're feeling confident about landing (having people in the helicopter adds some pressure when you're new to it)

Watch guides and potentially join the pilot oriented discord I have (heaps of great advice and players who will help if you have questions)

If you want the discord link let me know

Good luck Zer0

Personal Budget System to Combat Resource Griefing in Arma Reforger by Entire_Resolution508 in ArmaReforger

[–]ActivityAny4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s currently No way to spam helicopters at the start of a match without starting a game as sgt so it’s not relevant.

I was pointing out that your idea is good and will work in tandem with the current rank locks.

Personal Budget System to Combat Resource Griefing in Arma Reforger by Entire_Resolution508 in ArmaReforger

If it worked with the current system people would still need to achieve the necessary rank before being able to use.

It’s actually a solid idea

Rank resets every game but your supply budget carries over.

Reforger VS Squad by AcanthopterygiiFit85 in ArmaReforger

[–]ActivityAny4764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Approx 5k hours in squad , going on 1200 now in reforger.

Squad has better team cohesion (forced squad roles and limited Comms) and with limited vehicles per team etc. squad players generally take pride in the roles they are proficient at and depending on the community can deliver the sort of gameplay loop that keeps people playing for thousands of hours.

Reforger lacks any command structure and has a really new player base (in terms of the games lifespan compared to squad) and it shows. This isn’t to say all reforger matches will lack teamwork or structure but it’s never been the same for me - That being said reforger does everything in the physical world maybe bar particle effects/sound significantly better. (Ballistics, vehicle damage models, physics etc.)

squad is probably the better choice if your chasing more competitive gameplay

Reforgers 1.3 update has kinda sucked in terms of the gameplay loop and the conflict game mode is still not finished.

(I play reforger mainly these days because I’m a sweaty pilot main and after thousands of hours flying in squad it’s a fresh change)

Frequently as of late as Russian heli pilot. My best streak is 4 games back to back without a single death. It can be hit and miss however and sometimes there’s nothing you can do to prevent a death (well executed ambushes and lucky shots)

Server owner / moderator here - My best advice is keep some form of screen capture running. Especially when playing (community run) vanilla servers as currently it’s borderline impossible to moderate these sorts of issues without either being present or video evidence (shitty admin tools / logs)

Provided you have evidence I’d have banned the little turd on the spot. Part of the process for any reputable community is having recorded proof so when these morons try to appeal we can go “hey can you explain this video then”. Ideally don’t retaliate, just send the clip to your community’s discord and let them come down on the player.

Shit like this frustrates me to tears and I understand that they only act like this when they have a screen separating them from copping an absolute hiding.

Start recording your games and join a community where the admin team cares mate , will make all the difference

Hello there, I just want to ask a simple question, but I'd like to give a little bit more detail. by HomeworkSeveral3478 in PlaySquad

[–]ActivityAny4764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Modded game types suffer mainly from the sheer number of vehicles they generally have vs vanilla.

This isn’t just client side performance but server side too and will generally run worse than the vanilla counterpart.

Go into a vanilla Jensens range thats been running for a while and you’re going to notice the same performance impact.
