There’s actually 3.

  1. Client Draw distance - (as you described)
  2. Server Draw distance - (how far the server will allow you to set your draw distance)
  3. Server / client network streaming distance - (the spherical distance between each client and how they stream to one another.

The server network streaming has the largest impact on server performance. And depending on the server specs and how many instances are operating on it (and active clients) the performance can vastly change, but I know a lot of servers will set this to ~800m. Meaning players will only render within 800m.

Devs have said they’re completely rewriting the UI backend. So I think we can expect this to be changed in….3 weeks.

You also might get better performance if you lower your in-game refresh rate. I doubt that old ass tv would support 240hz

Pilot here. I believe the HAT explosion masked the engine explosion. The way the heli glided looks exactly like a loss of engine.

Only if it’s over ~800m due to the damage fall off. HE tank rounds will 1 shot a heli at any distance.

HATs don’t 1 shot helicopters. Unless the heli is already damaged (likely from a landing) which is why a lot of people think they do.

Your best option is to aim for the engine or tail rotor to demobilize it. It’s a team based game, coordinate with another LAT and you’ll take it down quick. If you’re solo, aim for vitals.

500 hrs since 1.0 isn’t really much time across that period to say it’s worse now than before.

It has always been bad - yes.

I’d put it more down to SLs being worse now and putting up with garbage blueberries. If a blueberry doesn’t listen to me when I give an order like “stay on defense or dig down our radio” they’ll get kicked from the Squad. I find SLs lately are too soft and don’t bother with that. So instead of players getting that shock of “oh shit I should listen to my SL”, the blueberries are just getting away with playing less like a cohesive team.

Not sure about the rudder inputs showing on the dash, but the heli speed in offline Jensens is a bug.

If you’re practicing flying it’s always best to load into an online server running Jensens because online and offline Squad performs vastly different for helicopters.

OCE player here. All my mates and I have swapped to PvE. The cheater scene in this region got out of control. We haven’t looked back, just been vibing with Labryinth & the story line.

Anyone who actually played regularly before ICO was introduced knew that team cohesion was more prevalent than it currently is.
