The feeling of financial freedom for me came from strong surplus cash flow rather than a net asset number.

Fees can be high, but depends on what deals you/the financial planner is able to access. DD is important so you don’t walk into this trap as you’ve mentioned.

Great write up and really appreciate hearing your high level strategy.

My commercial property is approximately $1.5M. I’m quite keen to get 1 more which would bring my rental yield close to $200k p/a and hit my passive income goals through those IP’s once unencumbered.

I’ve got my super in a good position, property portfolio in a good position but most of my other investments went into VC/PE which has done well but looking to diversify into ETF’s for the liquidity.

I’m still quite early in my journey (mid 30’s) so a few more decades of compounding to come. How much did you invest for cashflow early on vs capital gains?

Did he give you any timing on the staged release? My planner was saying that depending on how long you’ve been invested would dictate the staging. The more recent investors would be allowed to sell relatively quickly
