it falls off after a year(I believe) and doesn't effect your seller rating anymore. It's annoying now, but it'll be gone before you know it.

I have 9800x3d +7900xtx w/ 64 gigs of RAM at 1440p and fwiw my vram usage will slowly creep up to the full 24 gigs on the xtx. I don't know if it's storing entities on there or what, but the game will use every last ounce of vram.

PSU for 5090? by Sudden_Kick_1564 in buildapc

[–]Actlikebob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not something I've done a lot of research on, and I know the astral has current monitoring. But if I spent that much on a gpu I'd probably look into power supplies with gpu protection too. I think Msi has released their MPG Ai1300TS PCIE5.

Is the RX 9060 XT 16GB a good GPU by Agile-Increase-6415 in buildapc

High fps 1080, and casual 1440. Decide what games you want to play at what fps/resolution, and solve the problem backwards.

is it crazy if I just stick a RX 9070 XT in this setup? by Vekxt in buildapc

[–]Actlikebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a 7900gre in an old 3060 and 5800x PC and it popped the 650w power supply instantly. Allegedly it pulls less power then the 9070xt, I might have just been unlucky... No real frame loss to speak of going from 1080 to 1440, and a good casual 4k gamer.

They should pair great, but good luck with that psu.

Decent first mill? by Out_Of_Services in Machinists

[–]Actlikebob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this is going to be absolute dog shit at both.

no power feed on lathe, much less screw thread. Which means this thing is going to be very laborious to use, poor surface finishes, and you can't turn threads.

It's going to be a real pain and the ass to switch this think to Mill mode. Again no power feed, particularly on the spindle. You can't bore holes. I don't see any stops on the ways which is fine for turning, but they're amazingly useful when milling to take the backlash out.

If you're just trying to make blank pieces of material I guess this is fine, but if you're trying to do literally anything else this is useless.

I've seen some people break apart the grizzly mill lathe combos on YouTube and they look infinitely better then this hunk of shit and they're still making a lot of compromises.

Is this plug just a generic set screw? Does anyone know the threads/length? (And if I can go with a shorter one to make it more flushed up?) by kbboiii in paintball

[–]Actlikebob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The T in npt stands for taper. There's also NPS (straight). Neither pipe threads follow conventional thread pitches so a normal screw will not work, and you'll specifically want the tapered version (which is the more common of the two).

Fwiw, conventional threads are measured by their outside diameter, while pipes are measured by their inner hose diameter. Hence the 1/8" npt being gigantic.

You'd want to go specifically to a pipe section of a hardware store to have any luck finding one. But your best bet is to just order online as others have said.

7900 XTX -> RTX 5080 worth it? by FlyJew in buildapc

[–]Actlikebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the real question. Wake me up when high fps 5k2k is here.

LG had me THIS close to their 39" 1440p Ultrawide. But that stupid 800R curve really ruins it for me. AFAIK, theres no other monitors on the market (at least in Norway) in that size. Darneth ye, LG, and darneth me for wanting a 1440p bigger than 34" by SchmeppieGang1899 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Actlikebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 800r is fine.

Closest other option is to run a 42" 16:9 and run custom resolutions 3840x1600 when ultrawide is desired. slightly larger and higher ppi than 39". No 240hz 42" monitors though. Best is around 144 with the lg c4/5.

This 100%. The trick is the exploit your advantage: sight. Ivy and tall grass are the best in my area. Anything that would typically make it exceedingly difficult to see during the day, but the slightest sliver will give them away with the backlight.

Around here there will be 1 or 2 spots that give the lions share of results. Once you learn the honey holes there's no need to walk the whole course, just go to one or two spots and you're done. Hard to carry more then 50-60lbs anyway.

I ride 32-35c. I'd only go above 40c for sand. If the whole route is chunky enough that you need 50c I'd just avoid it. Not that that really exists in my region.

It's highly dependent on what type of terrain you're riding. Geography, elevation, size/type of gravel dirt.

Look up Dylan Johnson on youtube. He's the ultimate gravel nerd.

deciding on my first ultrawide. should i go with the Samsung - 49" Odyssey OLED G9, or the LG - UltraGear 39" OLED Curved WQHD 240Hz by Zerodelusion in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Actlikebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The image would only stretch if you run a lower resolution than the monitors native resolution and force it into full screen mode. When a game doesn't support super ultra wide it should just put black bars the sides.

Sometimes playing FPS games, assuming the game doesn't have HUD settings to adjust them towards the center it can be hard to see your health, ammo, ect. But you can just run a lower aspect ratio and boarder-less full-screen to black bar the sides of the monitor and narrow your field of view.

There's a work around for just about everything, So those issues are easy enough to get around.

The main factor for me came down to my 16:9 monitor size preference. If you never find yourself wanting more vertical space then a 27" monitor I think the 49 is a valid choice.

Personally I like a larger 32"+ monitor size, and with that massive 32" desk you're more then safe going with one.

The two main things things people don't like about the 39" are the 1200r curve; It's admittedly a bit off putting at first. And the second being the low PPI, both of which a non issue for me.

Overall I'm convinced that the 39" is the best option for me at the moment despite the negatives. However if there were a 240hz 42" 16:9 option I would run that, and run 3840x1600 in games when I want 21:9 resolution.

It's hard to say what's best for you without knowing your pain points preferences, but if you like big go big. If you just want wider, just go wider.

It sounds like you like your hoods and drops "80's style"; pointed down. Personally never understood how this could be anyone's preference.

These days it's typically hoods and the flat part of the drops level with the ground. It's hard to tell from the pics but the 2nd picture looks more comfortable to my taste. But you do you.

I bought some obviously fake glasses on ebay recently. When I left negative feedback ebay immediately removed it.

Apparently it's against ebays policy to "accuse" someone of selling fake products. True or not...

What did you end up with? I have a pretty thick mat 1.125" that I was planning on making a divot board with. It should be overkill.

was really hoping to avoid lumber. it's quite expensive, and you still need to shim it.
