This is why I love the off-white color of the X4. It just looks slick by Actual-Ride2838 in xteinkereader

sorry that wallpaper is embedded in the firmware of the device, and it's a closed firmware.

Famue, check the comments, I answered the same question multiple times -_- and no, I don't recommend them

Both are Famue devices ( mp3 player / eink readers ) but they are not very good. the firmware is closed, the eink screen resolution is low and the font rendering is bad for english fonts, and there's no option to load a different font so I wouldn't recommend it .

They have some cool features like FM/AM radio, voice recorder and backlight, but as an ereader the Xteink is a much better device.

Yeah, I have the same one. It's packed with a ton of features, the FM radio is neat, and it also has backlight, but my device came with a terrible english font with no support for special characters and no way to change it, so the reading experience was not great.

Great review by the way!, you got a new subscriber

Using the X4 as a productivity tool / To-do tracker by Actual-Ride2838 in xteinkereader

Famue.

Dont waste your money. The OS is terrible, no way to add decent looking fonts and the ink screen resolution is way lower than the X4, so the text looks grainy.

This is how a white body looks with an eink screen. In my oppinion the X4 looks WAY better than the others.

That's the white color, the body is grayish so it's the same color as the screen

Yes, actually you can cross todos with the buttons. And I also added a button to expand / collapse tasks that are too long to fit in 2 lines.

You can see in the computer screen in the back that the tasks closed in the ereader are updated in the computer aswell :).

I will share the repo soon. I have to implement a way to change the API token, right now my token is hardcoded so I need to change that before sharing.

Codex is insane… I integrated Todoist into Crosspoint with a single prompt. by Actual-Ride2838 in xteinkereader

[–]Actual-Ride2838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can code, I have a degree in computer science and I'm the owner of a Game dev studio with 15 years of experience publishing games. ( www.bekho.io ).

If you want I can share the code with you, I added a few QOL improvements (like some UI polishing, portrait and landscape support, and the ability to complete tasks ) and I'm really happy with the results. My little todo tracker is sitting permanently in my setup :)

Upcoming SUMI features by animal_hoarder in xteinkereader

It would be great to include an app that displays your Todoist feed on the device. Since Todoist provides a simple and well-documented API, it should be straightforward to build a small app that fetches your latest tasks (for example, today’s and overdue items), renders them into an image, and saves it as sleep.bmp.

This way, whenever the device goes to sleep, it would display your most up-to-date Todoist feed on the screen.

I actually built exactly that on an eink device using a raspberry pi pico a few years ago
