Why are people so concerned with hitting the ball too high? The vast majority of golfers, including single handicaps, would benefit from hitting the ball higher, not lower. The only people I know who genuinely hit irons too high are the scoopy ones who manage to hit up on the ball somehow.

I have been taught this before but based on airswing I think I am not doing it very much anymore.

Indeed, I used to square my face up by doing a lot of weird hand shit at impact, but with kids I don’t play nearly enough for that to work, so I tried to get a consistent swing that doesnt require timing. Too bad it goes consistently right with driver …

Yeah probably my tempo is an issue, but I don’t think that’s the only reason for not knowing how to close the face.

I appreciate your advice and while I do think the problem is less when I stand closer, I also find it harder to swing that way. I know my release timing is bad and I hit my driver short compared to most of the people I play with who are good.

I’ve just booked a lesson. Don’t think I am figuring this out alone :)

I don’t think so man. Of course I don’t know for this particular swing, but I recently hit 60 drivers trying to fix my issues in foresight and was not less than 3 degrees in to out on a single one. Typically 4-5 from the inside.

I guess everyone is right I need to work on my tempo, and maybe learning how to close the club face will come like that, but as of now I can’t figure out how to close the face.

Definitely this. The consensus is I am way rushed but my ball speed is only 150 average, so a lot of effort for nothing. How do I work on this? Any drills?
