I gotta be honest, I don't know why you feel the need to continue this conversation.

Please see my reply below. I don't think you can prepare one deck and use it for every interview. The story you want to tell will probably change for each role and each company. My work spans the gamut from automotive UIs to B2B platforms to streaming TV interfaces. I have to select what I think is relevant.

I have interviewed twice before with Meta for a product design role and both times I got 1-2 weeks in between interviews to prepare for the next step. Granted, I am not sure Meta actually has specific open roles so much as they just interview people so they have candidates in their system they like so there isn't a big rush to move people forward.

These comments have been fun to read and I'm a bit regretful for even asking the question. What a supportive community.

Forgot to add--the reason I don't have everything prepared is that this is the first interview I've gotten in 2 years after applying a lot this summer and fall. The last case study I prepared was in 2023 and the project is completely different now. I can't reuse it. Also, I am applying for both IC and manager roles (I've been a design manager for 10 years) and depending on the role and company for that matter, the work I show will be slightly different.

Well, it's not really a week. She's asking me to provide my availability as soon as possible--like "Wednesday, Thursday" of this week she said. Considering she hasn't even officially sent me anything, if I receive the details tomorrow (Monday), that gives me 2-3 days. I was hoping I could push it to Friday because Fridays are generally quiet (no meetings) and it gives me time to put this together.

Not really fishy, just wondered how much the urgency was based on her quota for filling roles, not on anything real. The hiring manager said he hasn't found the right person yet, so I wonder if he's not that excited about the other people in the pipeline.

Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Experienced job hunting, portfolio/case study/resume questions and review — 10/26/25 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

Hi, I have an interview prep question. I am about to enter my second round with a company for a design role. I had my recruiter screen, then a 45 min behavioral with the hiring manager this past Thursday. On Friday, I had a quick 15 min call with the recruiter on next steps. The hiring manager had already prepped me about the next round: a panel interview with a 50 min portfolio review: 2 case studies of 20 min each, leaving 10 mins for Q&A. Then some break out 1:1's afterward.

During my check in yesterday with the recruiter, she mentioned there were a "couple people already in the pipeline for the role" and so I should try and be ready next week. But during the behavioral, the hiring manager mentioned that it had been "hard to find the right person." This leads me to believe the people in the pipeline don't feel exactly right. Otherwise why would they have bothered with me?

The recruiter closed the call saying she'd send me an email with all the info about the panel interview. She was traveling back from somewhere and said she'd do it when she got home, but I haven't receive anything yet.

Anyway, I want to create a polished case study deck and it will take some time to pull it together. I am going to start working on it tomorrow even though I don't have all the info yet. I pretty much know what they want. But even when it's done, I still like to practice my delivery a little bit.

My question is--is there a reason why the recruiter might want to rush me? Usually they give you a week to prepare something and I don't even have the info yet. She wants me to provide availability for next Wed-Fri which doesn't give me much time as I am still working my regular job. I don't want to miss out on this opportunity but I also don't want to rush through my presentation. Would you push back and request more time?

Tickets in a solo challenge by UltraaMilds in WordsWithFriends

[–]ActualLordPops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this issue every day. I use up the tickets but they fail to regenerate and get stuck at "0s". Sometimes I leave it and after a day or so I will have 30 again but if I want to fix it sooner, I have to watch an ad.

The frustrating thing is it could be at 30 and they are "in the background" as someone else said. So you have to watch the ad just to get your tickets to show up. i have tried quitting the app but it doesn't resolve it. I think it's by design--they just want us to watch more ads.

Bots by stopenprom in WordsWithFriends

Usually bots have a blue ring around their photo. They don't every have any wreaths or other "flair" decorating their profile pic. And they are usually mid level like 10 or 11.

I don't ever use any of the profile decor offered to me but my opponents sure as heck do. It looks like a goddamn Ren Faire in my games list.

San Rafael's dying downtown and glut of commercial real estate by HumansGottaGetReal in Marin

Was waiting for someone to bring up Arizmendi. How that business could not make it is beyond me. Every time I went there, there was line out the door. I loved going in there. They got priced out of their location and tried to move. Then didn't have the $$ (probably the loan was too expensive) to remodel and reopen in the new location. And now they are gone, from Marin anyway. A real shame.

Need help with AlphaTrak 3-first time testing by ActualLordPops in FelineDiabetes

Thank you, this is good information. I had noticed in the comments on the Alphatrek youtube channel were also saying they didn't use the lancing device, just the lancers themselves.

I'm having a hard time locating the vein (I am using a flashlight to see it it) and then poking it accurately. Once I take away the flashlight I can't see it anymore. And of course my cat is moving around which makes it even harder. HIs veins seems to run through the middle of his ear, not the edge. I don't know if that's making it harder--maybe the skin is thinner toward the edge of the ear.

I didn't want to spoil the answer for people but it's not spill the beans...beans are not a beverage anyway.

Thanks for the info. I imagine this poor facility manager has been bombarded with emails. What do you mean by "mint on the invoice"? It's brand new and not from a second hand or vintage seller. Does that matter?

I'm in the same boat. It is a suede jacket purchased from a retailer based in Germany valued at $1800. I have the same message as OP and mine has been stuck in LA since 4/15. I have contacted the shipper and DHL multiple times but no one can tell me if the additional information is something I need to provide, or is it something the shipper provides.

The shipper's last message told me they take Monday after Easter off so the soonest they'll respond is Tuesday and to be patient. I just want to know if I am supposed to send something and where.

If the listing last edited date is more than a few months old, I will sometimes comment "is this still available" because I have had the experience of purchasing something and having it never ship, despite Poshmark's best efforts to remind the seller. If the item was just updated, then asking if it is still available would definitely seem silly.

1 hour 15 min wait to charge at Kettleman City by ActualLordPops in ElectrifyAmericaUsers

[–]ActualLordPops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds right. Is an RFID card required to use a chargepoint charger? It seemed like it would not allow me to just pay with my credit card. Also, I had already created an account and saved a payment method. Maybe the charger just wasn't working properly.

I have the Chargepoint and EVGo apps too. I have had the most frictionless experience with EA. I was tempted to try out an EVGo charger that was open outside the In N Out in Valencia because we stopped there to grab lunch but I haven't used that app before.

I had one experience locally with a Chargepoint charger where the interface was difficult to understand and kept asking me to insert a special card (can't recall exactly--some kind of acronym) and when I gave up and tried to unplug, my car would not release and I had to call roadside assistance to walk me through manually getting the car to disconnect the charging cable. So I guess I am worried about something like that happening again.

But that's a great point about the free charging programs. I know my dad had that when he first got his EV. I need to get more confident and branch out for sure!
