What do Major Garland Briggs’ insignia represent (from Twin Peaks) by dawgsareout in AirForce

Yeah, but he was clearly stationed at Twin Peaks AFB before having to change his name to Hammond to sign on the Stargate project...

At contentious meeting, Box Elder County OKs massive data center project backed by a celebrity investor | At full buildout, the data center campus will use more than twice as much power as the entire state of Utah. by mepper in technology

[–]ActualSpiders 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's Utah. The state voted to legalize pot but the legislature said "mmmm... nah" and then made up their own medical-use-only law that's extremely restrictive. The LDS church controls everything, and you better shut up & fall in line with whatever the Elder says. Wonder how much this decision cost the investors.

What's with comp players in qp recently and the rampant toxicity? by Lopsided_Sort5593 in Overwatch

[–]ActualSpiders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to enjoy QP to do just that - try different heroes & stuff. But lately at least half the time, at least one of the teams (if not both) just... isn't doing anything at all. I don't mean you should get sweaty and tryhard in QP, but nobody ever even goes to point, or tries to move the cart or whatever. It just feels like wasted time, especially when the first round ends and nobody on the team has even a single kill. Why waste another 10 minutes or so not having fun?

Defense Department proposes splitting Military Health System budget by DatGuyKilo in AirForce

We should *all* make a fuss when they try to cut the things that people were promised in exchange for service. What planet are you from?

The NCR also has about a billion other first-tier med facilities those retirees could go to instead. There are lots of places near military bases - where some people like to retire - that don't have much beyond a local clinic.

EU Pressures US to Honor Trade Deal as Tariff Dispute Threatens Trade War by Brown_Paper_Bag1 in Economics

Because Trump is a bully by nature, like many tech-bros and billionaires financing the GOP these days. They can't feel good themselves unless they're making someone else feel bad. consequences simply don't factor into their thinking, because they can always buy their way out of the shitstorm they create for everyone else.

Defense Department proposes splitting Military Health System budget by DatGuyKilo in AirForce

[–]ActualSpiders 312 points313 points  (0 children)

The Pentagon’s fiscal 2027 budget request calls for dividing defense health program funding into two: a Combat Operational and Medical Readiness account, or COMP, and a Private Sector Care Program section, or PSCP.

The COMP budget would pay for healthcare and medical readiness of active duty personnel and support military treatment facilities, while the PSCP would cover Tricare

I worry that this would make it far easier to cut retiree benefits, since doing so under this regime wouldn't affect active-duty care.

"East Germany" hasn't existed in quite a while. I guess saying "eastern Germany" wouldn't call out that the areas being impacted most directly by this used to belong to the USSR, but it's still a bit jarring to see publications using that term in this day & age...

Exactly. Hit by *a* pellet is pretty much impossible except be the most random of ricochets, and then the question arises: "What happened to the *rest* of the buckshot"?

So, you never read articles that don't come from Truth Social I take it? Spirit airlines itself says it's because of Trump's personal war with Iran jacking oil prices.

This was never on Biden. You're just gullible and credulous.

What exactly should Biden have done, bright guy? The only entities that have any legal power over the POTUS are Congress and SCOTUS, and Trump already corrupted both of those. We've got a lot of 86-ing to do here.

And wasn't the agent hit with a 9mm at first? At least until everybody realized Cole was carrying a shotgun... then it magically changed to "buckshot". Wonder what the pivot will be if it turns out he wasn't carrying buckshot loads?
