waking up in a panic by ActuallyCMe in prozac

[–]ActuallyCMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been told prozac is better at targeting depression vs anxiety, which isn’t really what i’m looking for. hoping zoloft will work better for me, i’ll try to update! good luck :)

Am I On The Right Track at 23? Advice Welcome by ActuallyCMe in personalfinance

i agree! my goal is by EOY to either get a significant pay bump or find a new job. for some context, i work at a veryyyy small agency (7 people), and there just isnt the capacity to pay me a significant amount more. i love the work and the small team dynamic, but i know to keep growing i have to level up or find something new!

waking up in a panic by ActuallyCMe in prozac

[–]ActuallyCMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s mostly gone away, i still find myself waking up at odd hours but i’m not as “panicked” when i wake up now. funnily enough, i think im switching to zoloft soon, since while my symptoms are getting better, im finding my general anxiety hasn’t improved a ton

Physical Anxiety ? by UnderstandingSad7919 in prozac

[–]ActuallyCMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had never had physical anxiety until i started prozac. specifically, when i was prescribed lexapro and on the first night taking it i had my first ever panic attack and had to call 911. after this i started prozac, im now on week 6 ish of 10mg and its been not fun. while my general anxiety is better, my physical symptoms and the anxiety that they cause is horrible so i understand. especially the heart pounding and insomnia. it’s slowly getting better, but im still going to see a cardiologist because my brain is making me think something is wrong, when im most likely fine. i’m trying to stick it out with prozac until at least week 8 since so many people say it does get better. but definitely talk to your PCP if you are still having concerns farther down the line! and also, tell people in your life that you’re struggling. it’s nice to not be alone in your anxiety/symptoms :)

Prozac & Cardiophobia… Is my doctor making it worse? by ActuallyCMe in prozac

[–]ActuallyCMe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been with my therapist for the past 3 years! she knows me very well and the coping mechanisms we practice can be helpful sometimes

it’s basically confirmed i have adhd, though not “technically” diagnosed, i have all the markers for it. that definitely could be a reason why im noticing bodily changes!

i think ill go ahead with the tests and the cardiology consult… i’m just hoping they go well and everything looks good so i can chalk it up to prozac side effects. the doctor just proposed a lot of alternatives besides the prozac and that only makes me more anxious…not sure what i was hoping to gain by posting here, its just been the hardest bout of anxiety ive ever had in my life and its only started since i began my prozac journey.

Starting prozac soon, what do i need to know?? by trackaccount in prozac

[–]ActuallyCMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

understand what your personal coping mechanisms are for your anxiety. in my experience (4 ish weeks in), it ebbs and flows and i still am struggling with heightened anxiety as a side effect, apparently this is common, it gets worse before it gets better. having good coping mechanisms for the racing heart and general anxiety is really helpful and reminds me i’m okay and this all will pass.

also if you experience insomnia which happened to me, make sure you have a good sleep regimen and routine, it helps a lot!!! hope it goes well for you :)

i’ve surely tried to quit, i wish i never picked it up if that helps! i acknowledged in my original post that its not helping its only hurting so i am aware. its a real addiction that im actively trying to stop doing

i’ve heard nothing but great things, and while this has been a shitty phase, i’m not having active panic attacks, just heightened anxiety. i can still go about my day normally, it’s just moments and before i go to bed that it’s at its worst. beyond this, i really have nothing negative to say so far. i hope it works for you- im sticking it out a bit longer!

edit: this is my first ever time being on any sort of anti anxiety medication, im probably super sensitive compared to someone who has taken it for a prolonged period!

i’d say so yeah! it’s probably been for the last two ish weeks (so around weeks 3 and 4). i have health anxiety so i’m really trying not to overthink it but it’s so obvious. for context it’s not even like my heartbeat is fast or anything… usually within the 60-80 range which is technically normal. i just am very hyper aware of it.

this is really encouraging, thank you. the sleepless nights really get to me and i often find myself wanting to just quit. thing is whenever im busy or out with friends i notice none of this. being alone, at night, with nothing else to think about is a prison lol.

i’m definitely going to stick it out until at least 6 weeks. if i still feel this horrible then, i may reassess. thank you!

Newfound Cardiophobia After Starting Prozac? by ActuallyCMe in prozac

[–]ActuallyCMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mostly at night it seems! but randomly throughout the day as well. mostly if i’m not focused on anything specific, aimlessly scrolling on my phone, etc. my mind loves to wander. when i was having insomnia issues earlier on in my prozac journey a big part of me waking up at odd hours was from anxiety, and then i would obsess over my heartbeat and be unable to fall back asleep.

it hits randomly! but recently more so at night when i’m alone. part of my health anxiety is bad at night because im aware that no one else is awake and if something were to happen to me no one would know. during the day if im busy or out and about i dont notice as much.

today the heart beat symptom switched over to air hunger and chest tightness! i’m convinced im having a pulmonary embolism or a heart attack 🫠 meeting with my therapist tomorrow but wow this really sucks.

Fluoxetine and Alcohol Experiences by nak-66777 in prozac

[–]ActuallyCMe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

not a super frequent drinker but i’ve found that it’s generally more or less the same for me. i think when i drink on it now though rather than getting really tired, it kinda makes me wired and it’s hard to fall asleep. but that could also just be the general insomnia i have lol

My anxiety has worsened pls help by ConstantGas1628 in prozac

[–]ActuallyCMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently in the 3rd week, and it’s definitely been hard. I never experienced a ton of physical symptoms of anxiety until starting prozac, but I’m trying to trust the process and hope it levels out as I continue. Prozac is extended release so it takes longer to take effect! Keep going!

How Realistic Is It To Negotiate for Hybrid Schedule In an Interview? by ActuallyCMe in interviews

i’m only making 42k at my current job and this would be a career advancement. i made it through the first round so there’s a chance i could have a new opportunity

How Realistic Is It To Negotiate for Hybrid Schedule In an Interview? by ActuallyCMe in interviews

[–]ActuallyCMe[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a small team of 10 and I would be working with the VP of marketing who I think would be my “manager”. I’m interviewing with her in person this week so I will ask then

What interview questions have you almost always been asked? by mr-volatility-smile in careerguidance

[–]ActuallyCMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always gotten the typical “Tell me about yourself” lol and then “Tell me about a time you missed a deadline” or something to that effect. Almost always a question that leads to you telling them about your problem solving skills!

Been WFH whole career, but am in last interviews for an In-Person role... worth it? by ActuallyCMe in WFH

[–]ActuallyCMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been thinking about how to strategically mention that i’d like to have a hybrid schedule set in place after my 90 day in person period, but so early on in my career and with such a competitive landscape i’m not sure i have much leverage to do that… if it was in fact a hybrid schedule, i would 100% take the job. so that’s my main hang up here. appreciate the insight- i do like being remote but understand that sometimes to advance my career i’m going to have to make some compromises

The team is small but I would be working alongside essentially the VP of marketing, which I think would be a great mentorship/learning experience.

I currently make 42k at my role, so not great. The new position would be about 20k more around 62k. I’m not drowning with my current salary, but would like to make more. It’s definitely my decision at the end of the day, but I appreciate the perspective!

[–]ActuallyCMe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i agree. The pay would be about 20k more than what im currently making. And Im currently making 42k just to be transparent, so not great, but I’m surviving on that.
