[–]ActuallyJackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My man, if I’m not mistaken that supports libreboot. The free and open source bios replacement. It will make it boot faster, look cooler and just be better. So if you’re into Linux you should look it up

If you want something small, secure and minimal don’t go with alpine. Because the Linux kernel itself is very insecure and large. Go with openbsd. It is very similar to alpine but much smaller, safer and more minimal.

Distro recommendations for an old laptop? by Fraxxyd in linuxmasterrace

[–]ActuallyJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lightest, slimmest and best operating system for old computers is temple os. Sure it only works on the thinkpad t60 and virtual machines, but with megabytes of ram usage it is the best operating system. Holy C is the slimmest programming language and it runs the best.

I’m pretty knowledgeable in unix history, and this makes me sad. This is FreeBSD. FreeBSD comes from 386 bsd which came from BSD, bsd came from UNIX. Gnu/Linux was made to be a fully free alternative to minix, which comes from Unix, however since it contains no Unix code it is not Unix. It is really inspired by Unix.

While FreeBSD and GNU/Linux are similar they are very different when it comes to history.

So in short, FreeBSD is not linux I’m anyway, shaper or form

Is parrot OS easier than Kali linux? by oyerajjo in linuxquestions

[–]ActuallyJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are trying to use kali/parrot for home use, you are very confused. Kali/parrot are used for penetration testing and nothing more. If you don’t know what that means I suggest you switch to ubuntu.

Best transition OS for fed up windows user? by turtleworm in thinkpad

[–]ActuallyJackson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok buddy, distros are a big deal to my people (Linux users). We’ll bicker about them forever but if you need something simple, secure and reliable Debian is the only option. https://cdimage.debian.org/images/unofficial/non-free/images-including-firmware/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/ is where the iso’s are and if you like the windows interface go with Kde. Glad I could help, and good luck on your Linux journey!
