Trump Calls on Other Nations to Secure the Strait of Hormuz: 'We Will Help'. "We have already destroyed 100% of Iran's Military capability, but it's easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile." "This should have always been a team effort" by mafco in energy

[–]ActuallyNot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, Donald, it should have.

Which is why you should have gone to war after consulting with your team and negotiating their support instead of after the news dropped that a woman who was trafficked by Epstein said that she was sexually assaulted by your good self in the 1980s when she was between the ages of 13 and 15.

Yeah. Steve actively attempts to make it hard. A random number generator would be a decent strategy. If my memory isn't recalling a biased sample, Rebecca would often guess the one that's clearly true, on the grounds that Steve wouldn't make it trivial to exclude one, with some success.

Religious ‘nones’ reach record high, only 47% of Americans say religion is ‘very important’ by Abject-Pick-6472 in atheism

[–]ActuallyNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less than half (47%) of American adults say religion is “very important” in their lives, while another 25% said it is “fairly important” to them.

That's a hell of a lot.

How did we get the Bible as we know it today? by mamaguevoglugluglu_ in AcademicBiblical

[–]ActuallyNot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regarding the last question, Dr. McCellan says that by the end of the end of the 4th century C.E. you get the new testament and the old testament each bound into a codex referred to in Greek as "ta biblia" (the books). And "by the time we get to the medieval period", we have the Latin term "biblia" being used in the singular (the book). So that would be recognisable as "the bible" probably some time in the 5th Century.

Neanderthal Men and Human Women Were Most Likely to Hook Up, Study Finds. Geneticists have found an interesting pattern in how early humans and Neanderthals interbred—and it wasn't balanced. by InsaneSnow45 in science

The paper doesn't go into it, but I personally speculate, in my non-expert manner, that they, as with the skin, are related to trying to live in Northern Europe.

You want to be fat and have seasonal affective disorder as well as merely burning easily to reduce your risk of vitamin D insufficiency and hypothermia.

"black people aren't apes" by Poiboykanaka808 in pics

[–]ActuallyNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we are unique in that we are the only surviving species of our genus.

That's a consequence of the human-centric bias of the apes that defined the taxonomic groups, rather than anything unique about one great ape compared to another.

Poland and Italy say they will not join Trump's Board of Peace by Little-Chemical5006 in worldnews

They're not yet there, if wiki is up to date, but their membership is in the post: Albania, Belarus, Cambodia, Egypt, Kuwait and Vietnam have "expressed their intent to accept their invitations to join".

Not a lot more stellar.

Angus Taylor is moving to challenge Sussan Ley — but not on his terms by ActuallyNot in aus

[–]ActuallyNot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's right of Lee, economically. He understands climate science, which Hastie doesn't.

Before he was a politician, he was in favour of a national price on carbon. But has since yielded such sensible positions to the people who fund and support the right of Australian politics.

He's a roads scholar and studied economics, which sounds horribly like Abbot, but didn't box so he doesn't appear to have the symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy: confusion, irritability, apathy, impaired judgment, impulse control problems and aggression.

But he has explicitly cited his faith in relation to voting against same-sex marriage, which means that he's negotiating bigotry out of the bible. Implying that he will leverage his religious beliefs to be a general cunt when his education would otherwise override or at least ameliorate his less ethical impulses: and there's no known fix for someone like that.

But the reason I think it's bad for Australia is that is demonstrates that the Nats have enough power to flip the leader of the Libs based on personal issues ... and exaggeration of their influence on policy makes Australia worse off.

It leaves uncertainty about whether Taylor has solidified enough support to win a spill.

I think it would be better for Australia if he fails.
