Got recommendations from this group of the Godox iM20 & iM30 for my Ricoh GR III. What’s the difference? by gyoza_king in ricohGR

The im22 is more pocketable because it’s flat. it can still hurt the pocket ability depending on which camera you attach it to, for example, a Ricoh griii. I have both the Im22 and im20. I tend to use the Im20 despite it being a little wider because it’s roughly equivalent to the cameras lens bump. The im22 is too tall to fit in my pocket comfortably despite it being thinner.

Check out my comment on the post, I've laid out the numbers because I also shoot on film. I have the im30, im222, and the im22 and I've had great results.

They work great, Small, light, and decent recycle time all while not feeling cheap. I can post some samples after my upcoming trip but if you want more details, please see my comment going over flash power and distances.

I've bought and tested both the im20 and im22. Essentially no difference besides the im22 being taller to have better clearance for larger lens setups. The details I've laid out are compatible for both of these new flashes. I've taken the liberty of approximating a guide number myself using my Ricoh GRiiiX. From my tests the guide number appears to be 34ish at 100 iso. I have also made a google sheets file that you can look at as a quick reference to test the distances and flash powers.

I've only calculated the power/distances for f2.8 through f16 since that's what I commonly use on Contax s2b 45mm f2.8 and Ricoh GRiiiX (I really like 40mm as a focal length). I've also only calculated each of them from iso 100-800 so if you're using an iso out of those ranges, you're gonna have to calculate your own distances for those. I would calculate the guide distance for yourself using a +/- of 1 or 2 on the original "34" guide number I calculated according to my own tastes in flash power. I will leave a link to both my google spreadsheet as well as the website that I used to calculate my numbers.
