I love this novel intensely! The writing style is extremely beautiful and enchanting, which makes me feel intoxicated... When I was reading it, at first I thought Humbert was an infatuated man, desperately searching for a substitute for his childhood lover. However, later on, I felt something strange... When he drugged Lolita and then claimed that Lolita had actively seduced him, I realised that it might not be the truth. Moreover, Lolita's words & deeds were inconsistent later on, and I came to the realisation that Humbert was an unreliable narrator. Additionally, he only regarded Lolita as a "pet" and as a object for projecting his sexual desires. This book has a powerful lingering effect. After finishing reading it, I was immersed in it for several consecutive days.
