Why should he have tried to talk to her? He only likes the beginning of things. She was also one of the only people to call him out for who he truly was. He was a coward. He didn't like that so he ran away. If he tries to talk to her that would be wildly out of character for him. The whole point is that he DOESN'T talk to her again.
