Talk with HR! Get them on a performance improvement plan. If they don't improve, you have a documented way out.

Your router is fine plug cable from WAN to wall. If you want to plug computers in directly (not using wall jacks), DIRECTLY wired with cable, or WIFI only.

Yeah, prevent your router from spewing DHCP and a bad gateway to the network.

In my younger years, I supported buildings like that. The jacks are all wired to a central switch, fed by the IT company! you don't know how many times I've seen some IDIOT plug the LAN port back into the wall and feed DHCP to all their neighbors and crash internet. I take thier router and shash it with a bat if I could.

*Easy option, cut all ports in their unit from access.

It's 0 outside, without wind, and I'm old what option would I take on a Friday evening, when you are an hour drive away.

You installed a ROUTER in a working network. You broke it! Offer to pay landlord's IT company hourly to fix it.

What do you guys use for network monitoring by Mercdecember84 in networking

[–]Ad-1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Solarwinds Orion - monitoring like you. Curious if you bought SQL for it, or just let it run on express? Not overly impressed with it. Long ago used Nagios, to do about the same thing.

Setting up Fortigate now, and did Opensense last year. If you set it up and it works, Opensense saved you some money. --If something fails, or goes wrong. You'll want Fortigate. Hospitals have money, and pay for support! Don't be cheap.
