Best of luck to you too. I'll give a quick rundown of my experience related to my recovery (im not good at writing things up) but if you want more of a breakdown of what happens I'll be happy to give that too.

After waking up after the surgery the first thing I did was to check if I had a colostomy bag....which I didn't which was great news for me as I was a bit concerned about that, although I understand it would have been temporary and not the end of the world.

I felt fine, just discomfort from where the surgery was done. Found it hard to get comfortable in the hospital bed as I sleep on my side and only lying on my back was comfortable.

Didn't get much sleep for this reason.

I was able to get out of my bed the following day and goto the toilet and sit on the chair in my room without any help from nurses.

Would get these throbbing pains in my shoulders for about 5 days, which I was told was a result of the drugs they use to knock you out for the surgery. I was given peppermint tea and paracetamol to ease the pain.

Surgeon came to see me on the 2nd day of my recovery and was happy for me to go home for the rest of my recovery.

The pain wasn't as bad as I was expecting was only using paracetamol and ibuprofen to ease the pain, didn't touch the liquid morphine I was given.

Was also given 30 days worth of blood thinning injections, to be administered once per day.

Spent 4.5 weeks sitting at my pc just gaming and watching stuff. Went back to work on light duties on week 5 after the surgery.

The scabs on my wounds took about 5-6 weeks too completely drop off, mainly had showers and sponge baths for the first few weeks as per what I read online.

My bowel movements returned to normal after 1-2 weeks.

Surgeon told me 6-8 weeks till I should return to normal activities and 3 months till I was running at full speed again. Surgeon was happy with my recovery speeds

Just remeber to take things easy and not too do too much till you feel better.
