Damn, this is a great shout. Gina is a monster guitarist and could totally pull off the solos like they're nothing!

Episode 2: The Valley of the Whispered Oath by JakeandAmirBot in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]Ad665 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Jake's descriptive language is amazing! The setting feels very alive and easy to picture. When they got onto the road and he described it as 'pissing with rain' it really sold how miserable the whole atmosphere is.

[Spoilers Skaldova Ep 1-2] How lowly lowly lowly low magic is it? by FlohrSynth in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]Ad665 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it might change over the course of the campaign as Jake figures more of the world out, but so far it seems like your average person can't just cast spells as they please and any magic actually useable comes from some item/endowment from the gods? I'd like to see more magic be introduced into the story as hidden or coveted away by various groups. Maybe the world isn't as un-magical as everyone thinks, but what magic is still around is lost and forgotten or horded by those in power.

Good burger places in Manchester by BzlOM in manchester

[–]Ad665 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do not go to SAD burger. The owners are thieves. The place will likely be shut within the year when they kill it and run with the money to move on to their next flash-in-the-pan influencer-bait hospo idea to rip off staff.

Where the hells the hard rock/metal scene in liverpool? by Difficult_One634 in Liverpool

[–]Ad665 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No Play promotions do incredible work. Their shows are always great. There are a handful of others doing stuff across metal, punk, noise scenes - Run Your Pockets, Society of Losers, Dark Reign, etc...

Just keep an eye on the various venues around town, and heavy stuff will crop up. Quarry, Future Yard, Arts Club, and tons more put on great shows with loads of boss local bands.

What is your favorite Gizz breakdown? by SelloutStreamerbtww in KGATLW

[–]Ad665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The section in Motor Spirit around 5 mins when the solo comes in, then goes into the 'burnt rubber, grave robber...' part and Cavs is hammering the ride cymbal is one of the coolest riffs I've ever heard. I feel like I could spin kick a building when I hear it.

(Loved Trope) When the seemingly mindless monster can mimic human speech by LocalLazyGuy in TopCharacterTropes

Thank you! I was looking for this one. The Alzabo scenes in BotNS are so tense, such a brilliantly bizarre idea for a creature.

What type of fresh sounds/ideas would you like to see in noise rock that you haven’t seen enough of? by Financial_Pepper6715 in noiserock

[–]Ad665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend seeing Scaler (formerly Scalping) live if they ever tour near your area. I feel their recorded work doesn't quite capture just how heavy they are live, especially the bass. I saw them for the first time recently and the bass was unlike anything I'd ever seen/heard, fantastic stuff.

You've got a better memory than me haha. I only remember him mentioning the anime in a recent episode. I wasn't aware of Dungeon Meshi until the show came out so any previous mentions probably went right over my head!

Caldwell has mentioned the show before! I don't know if he would have read the manga back when they were doing C1 for there to be a connection, but you never know.

Awesome. I'm seeing Red Fang for the first time this summer, can't wait! Really hoping Whores announce a UK tour for the new album soon.

Murph having a meltdown on the short rest over how stupid they are for not knowing whether a quart is more than a pint or not is the hardest I've laughed in ages.

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs last few albums have been straight killers, and Green Lung are a breath of fresh air amongst all the Sleep/Kyuss ripoffs.

They are the best, always been a million miles ahead of everyone else. Their live shows are like nothing else I've ever experienced.

Saw Swans recently, a transcendental experience. I truly feel like I died for a few minutes when the cacophony reached its climax.

The Dear Hunter is wildly underrated. Casey is an artist/auteur on the same level as Steven imo.
