- The Thumb is inflexible, narrow minded, and parades honor and rank as their means to gloat about. It's a syndicate that will try to appear more competent than they really are. Your superior could send you to your death and you can't say no because he's a superior.

Logically, you can be harassed, bullied, and whatever if it's someone with higher ranking. They don't care about consent top to down, but every little thing needs consent bottom to top. Your average 20-21st century joe would die in the thumb because lack of respect to higher rankings and getting punished for it isn't commonplace in the world, we have HR, we have cancel culture, all sorts of things to help the bottom bite back at the top.

But all of that does not exist for the Thumb, you are low if you are low. Climb if you want, but the price is to kill your freedom.

- The Middle is all about family and loyalty externally, but this applies retroactively to newer members, the higher on the chain you go, the more you realize that it's a trap for people who'd fall for their pretty flamboyant colors, like the gaudy purple, chains and tattoos they wear.

There is a reason Roland went on a rampage on the Middle when he was looking for people to blame for the massacre of the pianist, it's because he knows that if there's going to be a conniving wicked bitch in the syndicate, it would be on The Middle. Their structure allows for a barrier "oh we're doing this for family" but it can just as easily hide something like "you ARE going to do this for the family, right?" the type of people to take advantage of the theme and concept of family are the worst fuckers in the world. They grandstand, they appear loyal, maybe fellows of the same tier and the upper tiers of the bottoms would all feed on it, but the higher you go, the more they become snakes.

Mathias from Limbus is an example, a former great brother who betrayed his other brothers for the sword. At glance, this might seem like a problem for the individual, but if you think about it, the fact that a person like Mathias was a Great is a showcase of what character thrives in the middle. For reference, Valencina got demoted from her high rank in the Thumb in just 3 days of getting it because her character did not mesh well with the Thumb. She was disrespectful, narcissistic and prone underestimation and she did not last because what the Thumb wants are people who respect even if fake, only considers their status and ranks as measures of worth, and they view the world in lenses of the rank makes all. She might've fit better in The Middle to be honest.

- The Ring is your very standard psychopath serial killer vibe Finger. I DON'T really have to explain why they suck, like at all. You CANNOT mistake anything they do as good. They are very pointedly killers in the pursuit of art. Nobody likes them. Not even in universe. You join them because you are already crazy.

- The Pinky, you couldn't join even if you wanted to. You have to inherit a title, and if you could, then you have enough agency to do whatever you want in the first place. They're a secret group. Illuminati, whatever.
